TBN youth host now a “gay christian”

18 Apr

UPDATE:Scroll down

That’s right folks. The Trinity Broadcasting Network, America’s #1 religious show, has produced (no surprise) another whopper of a story, although not for the glory of God.

The internet is ablaze thanks to the secular homosexual community about Azariah Southworth of Nashville (google his name for the rundown), who has announced he is now a homosexual christian.

Due to the fact that I watch very little TBN programming, I had never heard of Southworth, neither his “popular” youth show REMIX which consisted of showing videos and having religious rock personalities on as guests.

Those who are now applauding his open sin probably had never heard of him for the same reason. But now he is a star, a hero because he is one of them.

Words like brave, honest, genuine, authentic, courageous are being used to describe Southworth’s actions.  He has said that he knows he will be (watch the choice of words) “I know I will be cut off from many in the Christian community”.  There’s no mention of his sin cutting him off from God.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:2 This scripture lets us know that sin will indeed separate you from God. His love is steadfast, but unrepentant sin will cut off your relationship and fellowship with God. Look at the lexicon of this verse.

On his way out into the open Southworth makes an interesting claim, which is true.

“We all know there are so many other gay people in the Christian industry; they’re just all scared. I was scared, but now I’m no longer afraid.”

All of the major genres of “Christian” music and entertainment are chocked full with —not strugglers– but people who are reveling in their sin privately. They are only waiting for an opportunity like Southworth, to announce that they are now comfortable with sexual immorality and their so-called faith. They are waiting for the further desensitization of the church to sin.

No word from TBN whether the show will be cancelled. Its doubtful. TBN’s founder Paul Crouch, Sr. was at the center of a homosexual controversy himself. Paul Jr. recently divorced his wife after adulterating with new age religious profitess Pastor Melissa Scott [more info]. The network regularly features numerous false prophets and money-mongers so Southworth most likely has nothing to worry about. At least from the “Christian community”.

UPDATE: According to About.com Southworth’s show actually debuted on NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) but was later picked up by TBN’s Youth Network. Southworth also “cooked and shopped” with his guests.

Not that I needed any more reasons to have contempt for TBN, but there’s one more.

Neil… just more handwriting on the wall for those who can read it.

2 Peter 3:16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

The word “destruction” is used in the strong tense – hell.
    – a strengthened form of ollumi, signifies “to destroy utterly;”

This network and these folks should be very afraid –

    Isaiah 66:1-2
…”But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

    nice exposure DL!

*Sigh*…just when I thought that it couldn’t possibly get worse out there in pseudo-Christian land, we now have this terrible revelation.

The gate is getting narrower by the moment.

GCMW: Christine, I think that we havent seen the tip of this hellberg yet. Like Southworth said the “many” are a little scared right now. Rue the day when it wears off because the church no longer sees sin as a problem in people’s lives.

  5. gcmwatch April 18, 2008 at 1:54 pm #

    Now Mark…
all this talk about hell will run people away from Christ.
If we want people to fall in love with Jesus, we cant mention hell. Its supposed to be the Bible’s dirty little secret.

Greetings. The fact that one can devote an entire blog to this movement reveals the lateness of the hour and how scriptural truth has been cast aside for that which Romans 1:28 refers to as “not convenient.” While I have known of this debate for years, the situation is apparently far more prevailant than I would have ever imagined. THESE ARE STRANGE TIMES!

Thanks for keeping tabs on a problem that’s far more commonplace than most of us could have imagined.

Have a blessed day in Jesus.

I’m not shocked by this. Look at the cast of characters over at TBN and their sexual depravity. Like Pastor Foster mentioned regarding the Paul Sr and Jr the Pimps who are shown on TBN are just as guilty. Many of the Pimps either have got divorced, Gay, or produced kids with women who are not their wives.

Really it does not matter to the die hard TBN fans. They are so duped that will ignore the plethora of sins being spewed out from that place.

    Wow.

We all know that TBN is on the verge of complete worldy commercialization (what with their bi-annual {or even quarterly} “pimp-a-thons, or the false prophets that breeze through on a daily basis).

Unrepentent homosexuality is being flaunted (even within the church) because the Gospel has been twisted, distorted and butchered – so much so that pastors and leaders are dared to expose and confront it because of the dirt that they keep up themselves! I mean, this kid even alluded to it in his interview!

The Word Network better catch up, or TBN will remain the undisputed place of refuge for apostates, heretics, and fales teachers.

Sure, TWN has their share of homosexual gospel artists, pulpit pimps, false teachers and overall wolves – but they can’t quite bring in the cheddar, uh, I mean money like TBN does.

Oh, I stopped drinking coffee while reading GCMW, so I didn’t have to clean off the keyboard (again) today :-)

I have scoured the internet to find documentation to support the Crouch, Jr. and Scott were involved prior to his divorce from his wife but can’t seem to come across any. Besides the internet gossips from Tampa Bay Online, do you have some other proof. I would be grateful if you could provide.

    Lord Bless,

People who love sin will find some way to turn the scriptures around to fit their own desires. God doesn’t except their turnaround. God’s word is true and these people have reprobated minds now and they love it so. Satan is cunning and has conned many in the church.

  13. graceman April 19, 2008 at 5:54 pm #

Silly people, you think TBN supports homosexuality. Nothing could be farther from the truth. In the article posted on April 16, Azariah Southworth admits his career in Christian television is over with this admission. You attacks against TBN on this issue are nonsense.

  14. gcmwatch April 19, 2008 at 11:15 pm #

Sure, graceman TBN is comprised of pure sinless perfection. Everybody knows that. Thanks for reminding us of just how off everyone except TBN is.

Question: has TBN fired Southworth or has he resigned?

  15. lavrai April 19, 2008 at 11:19 pm #

I don’t think this issue is so cut and dry.

Yes, of course, the Holy Bible says in very many places that homosexuality is a sin. There is no way around that. Also, sin is sin no matter what (w/ blasphemy being, it says, the only unpardonable sin).

I can’t condemn this man for ‘coming out of the closet.’ And, since I’ve never had a conversation with him about it, I can’t assume that he doesn’t love the LORD. He is also right about gays in the church being scared to ‘come out.’

The issue here is, of course, the fact that he and those rallying around him, are telling us they think homosexuality is acceptable in GOD’s eyes…when clearly HIS Holy Word says in very plain language that it is not.

If you speak with a gay person about why they are the way they are, you’ll probably get one of these if not all three: 1. I was born this way; 2. I didn’t choose to be gay; 3. Why are you straight?

So instead of yelling on someone for ‘choosing’ to be a homosexual, you should try and get to the core of their responses. You know, actually talk with them and listen and minister to them gently. It’s not all black and white… some gay people do indeed love the LORD (and, if they don’t repent of ALL their sins, gayness included, they will not be with the LORD in Paradise), but many are struggling with this burden. And it’s not exactly cool to come to your pastor (or is it?) and say you experience homosexual feelings.

If it were, I bet a lot of ‘gay’ Christians could remain saved.

So instead of kicking this guy out the door, it would probably be best to minister to him, pray that he acknowledges and accepts GOD’s Truth and use his platform to show others the way.

If you think you’re any better or worth any more than this man, please remember how wonderful you must have appeared to the LORD before you finally gave up all your filthy ways and turned to HIM.

…And TBN is hell network, in my humble opinion… that seems to where most of their programs lead (I don’t hear much about how I can get saved, just about who I should give my money to and why). I wonder when the LORD will send an asteroid or meteor to the main broadcasting location… when its empty, of course. If Paul Crouch isn’t dead yet, he still has a chance to find salvation.

    Peace…and shameless plug: http://www.lavrai.com/blogs

Ty you were asking about Crouch, Jr. committing adultery. You spoke the proof yourself. Regardless of him being divorced it’s still adultery as the Word of God says clearly.

Matthew 19:9 (New American Standard Bible)

9 “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

Now even if you can claim somehow that the divorce was a permitted concession, is fornication better than adultery?

A former porn star, turned pulpit pimpstress who married an old man ready to die and assumed whatever was his, then she sleeps with the heir to TBN. Neither he or she are any good.

There is a suprising story on this at the Christian Post today…

As far as the article appears to be reporting, he has not lost his job and is receiving a lot of support from Christians.

Support yes…but not condoning, which is how it reads. how sad…

Is it any wonder our youth growing up in church today are so confused?

  18. gcmwatch April 21, 2008 at 5:37 pm #

PJ, I wonder what kind of support does he need?

From all that I read he’s not asking for any support, just agreement with what he’s doing.

Well there they go again changing the meaning of words. This Christianpost article does little to agree with the Bible. No matter what sin it is the first words you will hear is gutted “support” and” compassion” which seem to be Christian euphemisms for we dont want to confront sin.

Youre right thats why young people are confused.

  19. gcmwatch April 21, 2008 at 5:40 pm #

With the MEGA MONEY the Crouchs possess, its amazing any of this got out. Like his father PAID his sex partner $425,000 in hush money to keep quiet.

Note the CP article said TBN hasnt cancelled Southworth’s show, issued a statement or fired him.

    Just….nothing.

  20. pjmiller April 21, 2008 at 6:30 pm #

Yes you’re right, he is looking for other Christians to ‘confirm’ him in his sin.

An old pastor i knew years ago called it ‘petting spirits or sin’…

When we don’t want to recognize sinful behavior as sin, and instead “cuddle it up close” we’re in fact petting it like a pet dog. We’re seeing a lot of this so-called compassion directed at sin today…its a twisted false love and compassion.

Guess it shouldn’t surprise us that satan even has a counterfeit for true Godly love and compassion.

To declare that you are a ‘homosexual christian’ is a bit of an oxymoron! There is no such declaration that could be true. You either are a homosexual (which includes the practice of homosexuality) or you are a christian (who has repented of the SIN of homosexuality)
As a former homosexual, I cannot see anyother Way that what the Scriptures say about homosexuality. It is a sin, and although sin is sin it is ALL worthy of God’s Judgement, homosexuality is a particular sin. It is not like lying, coveting, murder, idolatry. It is similar to what the fallen angels did in Genesis 6. These angels did not keep their own domain but chose to copulate with humankind, which was against what God had created. They went after ‘strange flesh’. The same is true about homosexuality, it going after ‘strange flesh’ and comitting fornication with someone of the same sex. It is all fornication but with the added ‘against nature’.
Our adversary is always willing that we do anything that is against God. The Devil does care how you do it, as long as you do not do what God wants you to do.
Lately, in the churches, it has been mixing ‘religion’ with ‘humanitarianism’. What Azariah is looking for is acceptance of something that he holds so dear, but that cannot be accepted by true Bible believing Christians. I used to want this. I wanted acceptance, but once I repented of this, I knew it was NOT possible!
God is a holy God. He will NOT acquit the sinner! He will ONLY forgive those who have trusted in His Son, Jesus Christ! And THAT is acceptance, but much more than that, it is a NEW LIFE!

  22. Stephen Archer April 21, 2008 at 8:16 pm #

    I meant by:
The Devil does [ NOT ] care how you do it, as long as you do not do what God wants you to do.

My apologies (so easy to do!)

  23. Simon Smithyman May 25, 2008 at 7:15 am #

I have just finished reading the entries on this blog re: Azariah Southworth and am disappointed.

Lately, I find that christians like to spew out verses from here and there in the Bible that, although may be ‘sound doctrine’, become hurtful intentionally. What does the bible say about division in the church and those who start it… what does it say about gossip… we know that ‘life and death are in the power of the tongue”, and yet after reading all on this page I feel that you are just attacking the man and interjecting you own personal thoughts of homosexuality with them.

“God’s ways are not our ways, nor are His thoughts our thoughts”… if that is true, how can we POSSIBLY determine whether a man/woman chose to be gay, or chose to stop being gay. I am not so sure that this is a choice, and will NEVER berate someone (especially one who claims to have come to faith in Christ) by telling them if they don’t stop what they’re doing they will not spend eternity with God.

The scriptures say that “they will know us by our Love”…

I would challenge all who have joined this discussion to put forth your personal thoughts interspersed with scripture re-think the motive. Remember, God looks at the heart – man looks on the outside.

I don’t know anything about this gentleman who has fallen, but he confesses Christ — are we doubting it?? I’m not. That’s only for God to judge. We should love him and pray for him – if that means he remains gay for the rest of his life, that has nothing to do with any of us (unless you’re in the relationship with him). “judge not…..??”

I am supposing that gay is ok or is not… that’s not MY call, all I know is that if a man/woman professes Christ what happens in their private life is between them and God and if God is ticked about it, he’ll let them know — I have every confidence that God is big enough to take care of himself.

    Thanks for listening.

    Simon

  24. Independent Conservative May 25, 2008 at 5:36 pm #

    Simon Smithyman,

You should learn that the Christian is to judge, righteously. Open your Bible and read all of 1 Corinthians 5.

Christians are NOT to claim the faith and act like God approves of them engaging in homosexual activity. Or have you not read 1 Corinthians 6 in full?

God has Paul address all this in his letter to the saints in Corinth and if you love God more than men, you’ll submit to the truth of scripture.

  25. gcmwatch May 25, 2008 at 9:11 pm #

You said: “Lately, I find that christians like to spew out verses from here and there in the Bible that, although may be ’sound doctrine’, become hurtful intentionally.”

The Bible said “I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.”

So it comes down to this: are you right or is the Bible right?

  26. Rose December 12, 2008 at 8:29 am #

    The Most Often Cited Argument
against the Sanctioning of Homosexual Relationships is that “It Goes Against God’s Will as Revealed in the Scriptures.”

While I have read some excellent material dealing with what the Bible says about homosexuality, for right now, I will accept that the Bible says “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.” (Leviticus 20:13)
Today however, I want to take a look at our church’s history and present practice concerning divorce and remarriage, because once the church started to ignore God’s Word on that, they are now trying to ignore His Word on homosexuality.
    Twenty-five years ago, the clergy was not allowed to perform weddings for people who were divorced. While there are many scriptural references “forbidding the remarriage of divorced persons,” the clearest is found in the gospel of Luke;
“Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery.” What’s more, in Luke’s gospel, these are not Luke’s words, they are not Moses’ words, or Peter’s or Paul’s. These words are attributed straight from the mouth of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. Hence, the Church did not perform remarriages, because it believed that to do so, would be to bless a union that Jesus Himself describes as adulterous.
Many people today remarry without understanding that they are entering into adultery. In the gospel of Luke, Jesus makes it clear that the new marriage is viewed by Him to be adultery. So what happened?
Our culture changed. While divorce was rare when I was growing up in Georgia, it is no longer rare anywhere. The result is; now our pews are being populated by couples in second, third and fourth marriages. We stopped seeing these marriages as Jesus Himself sees them, as adulterous unions.
How can the Church join unions that Jesus Himself, according to Luke, defined as adulterous, I ask you? The Word of God will not change, even if the Church does!
