Trouble at HGAAA?

Internal trouble may be brewing at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies headquartered in Columbus, OH. GCM Watch confirmed today through a confidential source that Detroit Bishop Andrew Merritt has left the denomination over issues uncovered by this blog in August 2007. Merritt had served as the organization’s second assistant (or vice) bishop behind Bishop TD Jakes and presiding bishop Sherman Watkins. Merritt’s name is longer listed on HGAAA’s clergy roster.

GCM Watch reported that a former member of the organization’s episcopacy Bishop Robert Taylor was deeply involved in a religious homosexual organization, The Fellowship while still apparently enjoying a level of fellowship with HGAAA. Bishop Merritt apparently felt some measure of deception over this situation and decided to leave the organization. After our initial report, Taylor’s name was quickly removed from the organization’s website.

We later received an official e-letter from the organization stating that GCM Watch had engaged in slander and defamation, but gave no specifics and then refused to clarify the circumstances around Taylor’s association and departure. Because we were not at liberty to reveal other information we received, we challenged HGAAA to prove its accusations. Via email, they refused further dialogue.

Calls were made to Straight Gate Church, requesting affirmation or denial of Bishop Merritt’s disassociation with HGAAA, but the media representative (called “helps ministries”) had not returned that call at the time of publication.

  1. IC, thanks yeah if Im not mistaken the MPS was referenced in the first post. Which made things stranger considering what was/is occurring in the HGAAA.

I think Bishop Merritt is a good man and has demonstrated that ministry should not be about hanging with the good ole boys club when they are not trying to clean house.

    PS see my email.

  2. Congratulations and praise God Pastor D.L.! Your blog is definitely having an affect against the Enemy’s stronghold attempt to corrupt the church and deceive true believers!

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

The whole armour of God includes an offensive weapon…the sword of the Spirit!

Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

Hbr 4:12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
