Brian McLauren watering gay churches

Surprised? You shouldn’t be.

Yes, Brian McLauren, the enigmatic guru of the emergent church movement is watering gay churches. And why not? After all, the emergent church and the gay christian movements are cut from the same false doctrine cloth which rejects sound biblical doctrine. When we wrote in early February that is was “inevitable” that elements of these two false movements would coalese, we were almost two years behind. The core goal of value-less unity is a strong component of both movements.

McLauren appeared at the same homosexual church in Arkansas that southern gospel music singer Kirk Talley did. This Flickr photo slide, shows a very comfortable McLauren speaking at the Sherwood Open Door Church in December 2006. Unfortunately, we have no record of what McLauren told them.

But there is ample written proof that McLauren is a saltless false prophet whose goal is to redefine the faith once delivered to the saints into a subjective guessing game as to what and who’s right.

To get a more complete picture of McLauren gay christian ideology read this and check this out John MacArthur’s response. McClauren tells the church have a “moratorium” on discussions about homosexuality in order to “help us resist the “winds of doctrine” blowing furiously from the left and right, so we can patiently wait for the wind of the Spirit to set our course.”

If you have read our posts on antinomianism you can quickly spot the “Spirit trumps Word” ideology.  The “Spirit” (not the Holy Spirit) allows one the unfettered liberty to live above the so-called legalism of the Bible. Thus, no scripture which condemns homosexuality is applicable.  How very convenient for the gay christian movement. Freedom has a whole new meaning.

Likewise, the theology of the church’s Pastor is steeped in antinomianism. He regards the Bible’s condemnation of homosexuality as nothing more than “legalism” or slavery.

“Paul tells us in Galatians that we should not allow anyone to put a harness of slavery on us ever again. A friend of mine says it is amazing how many people would rather worship at the foot of Mount Sinai where Moses received the Law instead of the foot of Mount Calvary where Jesus set us free from the heaviness and impossible requirements of the Law. Those who today still hold to a legalistic approach to salvation and God’s love are mean-spirited and exclusive. Their love is conditional and so is their acceptance.” [source

Needless to say, the pastor is completely wrong. His theology is driven by his desire to cover, justify and protect his own sinful lifestyle rather than to honestly exegete what the scripture says. The Bible calls that handling the Word of God deceitfully.

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 2 Cor 4:2.

  1. Great points. When these emergent guys act like we just now started giving serious thought to sexual mores it comes across as arrogant and laughable.

    Loved the poster, too!

  2. The Emerging Church instead of embracing those who seek freedom from homosesuality To leaders of the Emerging Church ex gays as non exsistent joke. I use to attend an Emerging Church and recall how they nearly laughed when I mentioned I was deliverd from homosexuality. To date there are no minstries of outreach to the homosexual community in the emerging movement and that should tell you alot about there position given that they have a minstry for so many other things.

  3. When the clarity of scripture needs a new “spirit”, it’s not God’s word.

When the clarity of scripture needs a “new approach”, it’s not God’s word.

When the clarity of God’s word is prefaced with “God has laid something on my heart you need to hear it”, beware – it’s not God’s word.

Their love is conditional and so is their acceptance

That statement is pure corruption of God’s word and the ministry of Christ. This so called Pastor should be reminded Jesus said NOTHING to Herod’s requests…not very accepting eh? Herod also “knew” Jesus – and he too had also had been warned.

  4. @ Neil: The pyromaniac guys are the best!

@Sandy: These false prophets would never acknowledge true freedom or the path to it. since they have a low view of scripture, true freedom probably is a joke.Good you shook the dust and vacated.

@Mark: Can you believe a “moratorium”???? He wants us to STOP talking about scripture so that Spirit can speak. What unmitigated arrogance. Im willing to call it demonic.

  5. Just read a great quote from G.K. Chesterton:

“When people stop believing in God they don’t believe in nothing, they believe in anything”. – G.K. Chesterton

Thus, we get reprobate theology like emergent church advocate McLaren and the gay “christian” movement. No wonder they agree with each other’s errors and heresy!

  6. A lot of charismatic churhes are starting to embrace the emergent humbug. went to one of the seminaries in one of the big church in London and was amazed at the level of new age I kept hearing. But I have seen in their brochures that the emergent church is sending its leaders to study with them.

  7. I’ve said it before but I cannot beleive the times we are living in?? This is utter madness!!

It’s going just like the Bible said it would…it is exhilarating yet horrifying at the same time!

The prophet from old said that in the latter times they would call evil good and good evil………amazing!!

    And so it goes…

It is BAD enough the secular godless world buys into the homosexual agenda….IT IS horrific and pure evil that anyone that claims to be a CHRISTIAN would DARE buy into these lies!!

My God…..THE BIBLE is explicit on these issues….it is Black and White….

Homosexuality…Murder…..Stealing…Coveting….etc etc….these are no brainers in the Bible….the teachings are 100 percent clear….to try and say otherwise indicates you are lead by a false spirit…

Christians of good faith can hold disagreements on in house debates like when the rapture will be…can a Christian lose their salvation, what version of the Bible is the best…and so on and so forth…

    BUT…Romans 1 and elsewhere are perfectly clear…

ARE GOD is a Holy God…a God that can clean us up..whether are sin is homosexuality or adultery or pornography….the LORD can fix us…..BUT to deny that these lifestyles are ok and that the Lord will simply ignore them is a LIE from the pit of hell!!

Amazing times we live in Brethren!!

And keep up the good work Pastor!!

You are truly at the front lines fighting evil!
