Dottie Rambo killed in tragic mishap

Country Music Television is reporting that Dottie Rambo, the prolithic southern gospel music singer/songwriter, was killed on Mother’s Day when the bus she was riding in crashed into a guard rail and went down an embankment. Rambo was the only one on the bus who was fatally injured. Six others are in various degrees of injury.

According to Wikipedia, Rambo wrote over 2500 songs including stellar church athemns “He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs” (recorded by Andrae Crouch) and “We Shall Behold Him” (recorded by Vickie Winans) and “I go to the rock” (recorded by Whitney Houston).

GCM Watch extends condolences to the family of Dottie Rambo.

You may be wondering what this has to do with gay christianity. As we have reported before, the lines between the gay church and the “mainstream” Christianity are being erased quietly by those in the religious music industry. Their websites never list their gay church engagements. While reading on the life of Dottie Rambo, we came across the following exchange on the Soulforce message board. Yes, that Soulforce.

I had to tell ya’ll about my experience this past weekend in Long Beach, CA. My partner and I have only been out a little over a year to our friends and family, and we have gotten involved in a GLBT [gay] church in Houston, TX. They make an annual trek to Long Beach every year for this conference, and I was amazed and astonished at the people they had for speakers One was Peggy Campolo, who unabashedly supports gay rights and has for years. Her husband, Tony, does not however. They had Don Milam, a Christian publisher, who over the past 10 years or so, has been brought to a deeper understanding of God’s grace and how the church has failed in showing it to gays and lesbians. His granddaughter came out about a year ago, and he was put into contact with the pastor( Sandy Turnbull) of Glory Tabernacle Christian Center in Long Beach, where the conference is held, and she helped him come to grips with his granddaughter’s lesbianism. Since then, he has written and spoken about his revelation of God’s anointing of gay Christians. Last but certainly not least, Dony McGuire and Reba Rambo-McGuire and their children, Destiny and Israel, provided the praise and worship. I remember Reba Rambo singing with her parents Buck and Dottie Rambo in my teens. For her and her husband to sing in a gay church, and conference was astounding. The most moving and beautiful things at this conference was Saturday night, when Dony McGuire and Reba Rambo invited all the pastors of gay churches that were there, to come up on the stage, remove their shoes and he and his wife, personally washed their feet apologizing for the years he and his wife, and the Christian church at large had thrown stones , maligned God’s work in Gay churches, and had excluded and thrown out these pastors and their congregations. He and Reba wept as they washed and kissed the feet of these pastors. He said that over the past year, his church has gone through some tough times because he has invited gay people to come in and welcomed them. Several members have left and he has caught a bunch of flack (sp?) because of his inclusion of GLBT people into his church. Needless to say it was a wonderful experience, and I left with hope that maybe the straight churches are slowly coming around and seeing that God is moving mightily in gay churches.

The poster continued:

Reba Rambo is the daughter of Buck and Dottie Rambo, who were Southern Gospel music giants. They were popular among that crowd of people who enjoyed that music. It is not surprising that a lot of people don’t know who they are. The only reason I know who she is, is because I grew up listening to her parents’ music, as well as a lot of other Southern Gospel singers. Reba married Dony McGuire, another singer in that genre, and they more or less left that genre, to pursue a more evangelistic ministry and now have a church in Nashville, called The River.

When I heard that she and her husband had begun a minsitry to GLBT people, it floored me because of her roots. Equally, I was floored to see that Cynthia Clawson and her husband, Ragan Courtney, ( Christian singers and songwriters) support GLBT rights. I told Reba at the conference that my parents had not spoken to me since coming out, and she cried. The foot washing she and her husband did was in no small way one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Apparently, Rambo’s daughter and son-in-law have been increasingly pushing the false gay christian doctrine. What’s interesting is that the Rambo’s church site (The River) claims that it is a place for people who have been “ousted” from other churches. That seems to be a coded for people who dont want other people to tell them the truth about their sin. The Rambos are under the “covering” of the International Communion of Covenant Churches once headed by Earl Paulk.p>

  1. PF,

I want to expand upon this a little.

We obviously have seen the melt down of the Church in regards to sexuality. Likewise the world also. I am beginning to question the whole 1 to 2 % Homosexual population notion. As a Gen Xer I can tell you that it seems that Homosexuality is becoming quite prevalent. In fact it seems like Gen Y ers took the torch and ran away with it. I am beginning to think this is a curse from God as described in Romans where God is literally giving this whole country over to a reprobate mind. That being said as someone who is younger ( I graduated High School in the 90s) I can attest to the fact that Homosexuality, especially among woman has grown exponentially. I think we are truly beginning to see the hand of the Lord being removed from this country and vast numbers of people(primarily younger) are experimenting in numbers higher than imagined.

  2. It’s rather disrespectful of this blog to capitolize on the death of such a good woman by using it as an opportunity to insult and slur lgbt people. WE are God’s creation, not reprobate, not an abomination.

GCMW: Yes, people are God’s creation, but sin is an abomination to God. we receive no compensation for any writing here, it is simply to inform and equip, therefore there exists no “capitalization”. Our sincere condolences were extended to Mrs. Rambo’s family. The news of the Reba Rambo gay church support is old news which was originally publicized by members of a gay church.

  3. God is sending America to it’s knees we have forgotten what America was founded upon and that was God we need to all fall to our knees and pray that God will have mercy upon us and help us get back to where we once were. Gays are talked about in the Bible and if God says it’s wrong than it’s wrong you cant over look what God says if you truely read and believe the Bible you cant just pick out the parts you want you must believe it all and live by the good book.
If Pastors are called by God then I dont believe God tells them its ok if they thinks Gays are ok. Its wrong they are only out for their money and to say they have 500 or more in church attendance. For Donny and Reba to that they must REALLY want acceptance from everyone it takes a STRONGER person to stand up for God and what the Bible states [homosexuality is] wrong and a disgrace to God and our country.

  4. Keltic,

I visited your website. Your whole site is GAY GAY GAY. It is you who define your whole life by your orientation. We define our life by the Word of God.

  5. Kyle its extremely difficult to fathom the hypocrisy of people like keltic. Just google anywhich way the wind blows and homosexuals are trashing Christians who oppose homosexuality in the most vile terms possible. But when is the last time Keltic or the other of these phoney do-gooders demanded that they stop their slurs and evil words?

We have no personal animus against homosexuals who claim to be Christian. We hate their false doctrine because it is demonic.

    Jesus said it best:

Rev 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.

Notice Jesus didnt say he hated the Nicolaitanes, just their deeds.
Love the sinner, hate the sin. But I forgot gays dont like that. They want you to love them and their sin.

  6. I loved the music of Dottie Rambo and was saddened to hear of her passing, but i am more deeply saddened to read of the compromising of the Gospel by her daughter Reba and her husband.

Yesterday on a christian radio station, here locally, they played the music of Dottie all afternoon. I sat listening at my computer, recalling back to the early 80’s after i came to Christ and how much her songs were a part of my life.

Pastor Foster, there are days i wish i could go back to those days; days of ‘ignorant bliss’…I know that sounds strange, but knowing how many are falling away from the truth today, is almost more then i can take.

God bless you Pastor for keeping us informed.

  7. Sorry, meant to write more. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dottie took a very similar view of homosexuality as her daughter Reba. One of Dottie’s best friends is/was Lily Tomlin who, although very quiet about it, is gay and has been in a same-sex relationship for something like 30 years.

GCMW: We came across that information however there is no evidence of any beliefs or public statements against the teaching of scripture on homosexuality, so therefore her friendship with Lily Tomlin is of little value in context to this post, in our view.

  8. Picking up stones and casting them seems to be a waste of energy. Homosexuality is not the greatest sin that we are facing. Militant atheism and New Age gurus are leading more people away from the church than those who are gay.
Perhaps it’s time to focus upon the real enemy, instead of the side issue that the Devil has distracted us with.

May God bless the desires of your heart and make your plans succeed.

  9. Homo behavior is indeed one of the great evils that we are facing…along with Abortion, Radical Secularism, Materialism and so on and so forth.

The founder of this website has correctly been called to combat the evils of the Gay movement in the Church!!

And yet again..I read about more ‘saints’ that are going by the wayside….SHAME on Cynthia Clawson and all others that obviously DO not pick up their Bibles and learn what it teaches!!

    SCHOCKING is all of this…

What next??? George Beverly Shea singing in the next Gay Paride down San Fran way????

Its just the like the Bible warned…and we are living right smack dab in the middle of it….

  10. Since you have so many questions, let’s take time and answer them? There are a few for you at the end. Hopefully, you’ll be just as honest.
Do any of you have proof for what you are saying here? We go by what is said publicly.
Do you know for sure that Cynthia Clawson does not pick up her Bible? We never made that allegation.
You engage in speculation about the views of a deceased woman? No, we did not.
You decry another because she is friends with a known homosexual? No, we did not.
Even in this discussion, based on my one comment, I’ve been called a hypocrite and a phoney. Is this the way of love? Is this the way of Christ? Yes, Jesus called people hypocrites, devils, vipers, evil, wicked and much more. He called it as he perceived the intent of their hearts.
All of this reminds me of the Pharisees in Mark 2:14-16, who found it necessary to criticize Jesus because of the people he chose to hang out with. The Pharisees werent the only ones wrong in the Bible. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God Romans 3:23
My original comment that this is capitalization stands. This site is using a woman’s death to garner support for their anti-gay speech. There is no proof that Dottie Rambo supported God’s Gay and Lesbian children. There are hyperlinks on this page that obviously produce income for the site, so I’m guessing that there is some intention to raise money through this blog, if only to support the costs of running the site. Capitalization.
Youre entitled to your opinion. As you stated, without proof what does you claim mean except speculation?

    So which is it?
Does God love me or not? Yes.
    Do you love me? Yes.
Do the responses here demonstrate that love to me in a way that would cause me to turn from my (perceived) sin?
If you want eternal life, what is said here is irrelevant. Its telling that you inserted the word “perceived” in your statement. Is this an exemption from what the scriptures clearly state is sin?
If I were poor, would you feed me? Yes, if you asked.
If you found out that in addition to being poor, I am gay, would you turn away from me? No.
Would you visit me in jail? Yes, if you requested it
Or is your salvation merely about keeping score, tallying those who get into heaven and those you believe are going to hell? No.

It sounds like you’re trying to separate the sheep from the goats, but as I understand it, that’s not your job.

    Your questions:
Do you accept what the scripture says that homosexuality is a sin and if you are involved in it, you should repent and seek God’s forgiveness?
Would you accept the truth about your lifestyle, even if it came from someone you disagreed with?
Are you only concerned with love, but not truth and obedience to the will of God?

  11. I , too, was shocked by the passing of Dottie Rambo. But I was also rather disappointed that not only her daughter and son-in-law embrace the GLBT lifestyle; but even Miss Dottie also did, as well as the gospel of inclusion…I read this someplace and I would have to find it for you.

The Lord blessed her with an awesome gift of writing music that touched people. My favorite Dottie Rambo song is “When His Kingdom Comes”.

gmcwatch…as always, keep doing what you are doing to the glory of God…

  12. Take a look at the the comments made, most of my questions are in response to those, not necessarily restricted to the original blog entry.

since when did Jesus say that Christians only do good to those who “request” it?
GCMW: Please list all your spontaneous jail, hospital and feeding the homeless accomplishments within the last year.

No. I do not accept that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin. Common sense, academic research, sound theological studies show that in all 6 verses that are read as being anti-gay, this was not the meaning of the original texts.
GCMW: This is no surprise. And you wonder why youre being called a hypocrite.

I do not have a lifestyle, I have an orientation; doesn’t matter if you agree with it or not. It just is.

Faith, hope and love….the greatest of these is LOVE. If I love, then I am obedient to God, in Christ, who said Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself.

  13. i don’t do my good deeds for public praise, so I’ll not bother to list them. more importantly, you’ve managed to throw out a red herring and avoid the question. Did Jesus say that we do good to only those who request it?

You also didn’t respond to my questions about those who made comments that can not be supported by facts: Cynthia Clawson doesn’t pick up a bible? Speculation about the views of someone who can no longer make those views public? criticism of those who are friends with homosexuals?

If this is your version of love, your version of christianity, I’ll be happy to spend time in hell, at least you won’t be there.

  14. Keltic,

What academic research claims that your lifestyle is not sin? Do you honestly believe that gay male sex is physically compatible? You really think God would create your system to accept this lifestyle?

Look at your body which was brilliantly created by the creator. Look at the natural purpose of each system in perfect harmony. There is no way from physical evidence that you can say that homosexuality is correct. None! The male and female anatomy is perfectly fitting, with mutual pleasure, and purpose beyond mere pleasure.

Gay male sex introduces the body to disease and illness because the system which was designed for the removal of such is being damaged and results in fissures opening up the body to microbial.

As for your desires and same sex attraction I am sorry that is how sin manifested itself in your life. And guess what your not a victim because many people have suffered from SSA but that never gave them a license to engage in such. Rather, like ALL sin in our nature some went to the cross of Christ and laid everything down at the feet of the cross. Surrendering everything and repenting resulting in the healing process regardless of the manner by which sin manifested. What do I mean by this. Your SSA you felt at whatever age is no different than any other desire to sin. Sin is sin and without the cross you are dead in it. Why should you have the luxury of claiming yourself saved and gay while others had to repent of EVERYTHING? Do you understand what I’m saying? Why should the alcoholic, the murderer, the abortionist, the liar, the thief, the adulterer, the fornicator, the porn addict, the boaster, the arrogant, the idolater, the pagan, etc, etc have to repent but you do not? What is so special and holy about homosexuality verses some of the other sins mentioned? What is so sacred about homosexuality that you put it on an untouchable pedestal while Christ died for every other sin “except” homosexuality? You think WE are close minded. No my friend it is you who are close minded to the truth. Who are you to tell God that just because you “feel” a certain way that it is OK. I have a lot of “feelings” too but I am not about to engage in them. There is this girl at work in which I have certain “feelings” which come about but I wont engage in them. I have a lot of “feelings” my friend. My flesh is so corrupt and wicked that if I wasn’t saved and I didn’t have the Holy Ghost restrainer within me I would be quite a wicked individual. Thank God however I am saved. I look forward to the day when I am given a new body fashioned like the Lord and Savior and will never “feel” or desire any sin. What an awesome day that will be.

  15. keltic quite frankly your hypocritical nonsense is extremely boring having heard it more times than needed. Furthermore it serves no good purpose here. Find somewhere else to play hide and seek games.

Im sure you can ask and answer your own self involved question on your own turf.

  16. Keltic,

I noticed you didn’t answer my LONG questions. I have noticed that when one loses an argument they tend to either shout louder with no substance or in this case just shy away.

  17. To Kyle, GCMWatch, et al:

If homosexuality, in and of itself – were not a sin, what problem would you then have with it?

GCMW: Emproph, based on 1 Peter 1:25, Isaiah 40:8, and Hebrews 13:8, that’s a virtual impossibility. Thus, to answer your question would only lend itself to unproductive speculation. You assume that we have some sort of personal animus against homosexuals. Our objections and refutations are based solely on God’s written word and what is detailed as sinful, destructive and crippling to relationships both with man and God. That’s the level its on, so if you want to question that, feel free.

  18. Emproph,

Thats a great question. However, the problem is that if Homosexuality is not a Sin then God is a liar and the purpose for mankind is in vane. All sin including homosexuality was spelled out in the Bible. During old testament times the punishment was much more severe for MANY sins including Homosexuality. Thank God we live in the era of grace and that no matter how sinful you are the shed blood of Jesus can set you free. Once you have confessed your sins, accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and have been filled with the Hly Ghost you then become a child of God. Through prayer, reading of the word, and by the power of the Holy Ghost you begin your journey of change as you become more and more Christ like.

  19. Emproph: If homosexuality, in and of itself – were not a sin, what problem would you then have with it?

    gcmwatch: God’s written word…

Kyle: if Homosexuality is not a Sin then God is a liar

The Bible is inerrant. So be it. However, my essential question remains: If God’s written Word said that homosexuality was as constructive and life-affirming as heterosexuality (sans physical-procreation), what then would be your objection?

I ask that question in this vein:

Kyle says: “Why should the alcoholic, the murderer, the abortionist, the liar, the thief, the adulterer, the fornicator, the porn addict, the boaster, the arrogant, the idolater, the pagan [Emproph interject edit: pagan = sans golden rule morality], etc, etc have to repent but you do not?”

Those are all sins that cause harm to one’s self or are willful manifestations of the desire to harm others.

Am I truly to understand that you (and by “you” I mean generalizing…) believe that the human-desire for love, companionship, sex — for some — is “no different” than the desire to cause harm?

If so, so be it. But that then begs the question, would you then dutifully choose to become a lying thieving murderous adulterous fornicating porn-addict alcoholic abortionist who boasts arrogantly about their idolatrous paganism — if the Bible told you to do so?

    If not, why not?

  20. Keltic,

I noticed you didn’t answer my LONG questions. I have noticed that when one loses an argument they tend to either shout louder with no substance or in this case just shy away.

I’ve replied, but since it was so lengthy, I decided to make it an entry at my own blog. You just gotta click on my name.

  21. Pastor Foster,

Keltic put my post on his blog. I finally made it! LOL! Keltic I’ll check it out.

  22. The bible says that God destoyed for such acts. It speaks against this kind of act. And who said that gay and church goes together. It is as far apart as can be. It saddens me to know that Dottie was such an inspirational singer and inspired writer, to have a daughter and son-n-law to support such an unGodly movement. It is of Satan. If they do not get there heart right they will split hell wide open. Reba should know better for supporting such people.

    So Sad.

  23. Thanks for this blog. It’s so important that there are venues like this where people can freely and openly voice the truth in love and with compassion for those who are deceived and lost.

I love the scripture that tells us that in Christ we are new creatures and that old things pass away and all things are made new. The Holy Spirit began to convict me of my lifestyle immediately upon my acceptance of Christ and His saving grace. I hadn’t even learned my first Bible verse or heard my first Bible story, but God had the mercy to begin proving to me that He loved me by inspiring and empowering me to overcome drug addiction and an openly promiscuous and hedonistic lifesyle simply by the prompting of his Holy Spirit.

The same can happen in the lives of homosexuals and lesbians if the church will simply offer them the truth out of love for them. We need to let them know that their behavior is sin and it needs to change as they get to know Christ instead of watering down the gospel our of fear of being politically incorrect.

Our nation is in a sad and dangerous state as it accepts and accommodates these sinful lifestyles and viable alternatives and acceptable practices. From the government to the education community, accommodation and acceptance has chipped away at the foundational moral fiber that our nation was built on.

Jesus always made it clear when He met and saved people that they were to not only go and tell everyone, but to “Go and sin no more” as well. If you love Jesus, your life will show it through change and when change does not come, your love and commitment to him must be questioned.

Fruit is proof and a lack of it is equally potent as proof otherwise.

  24. Dottie Rambo didn’t always support the gay movement, but with her continued slide to a more secular and worldly lifestyle over the later years….probably due to some input and influence from her hyper liberal daughter and son in law, Dony and Reba McGuire.

With her open embracing of the gospel of inclusion came her open acceptance of the gay and lesbian lifestyles.

Saying “gay Christian” is like saying “prostitute Chrstian”, “heroin addict Christian or “adulterer Christian” and is so ridiculous that I’m amazed that so many people are so clueless to what the bible says about these lifestyles that they accept and accommodate them.

The reason we say we’re Christians and not have any prefixes to the term is that all else that we were becomes part of our past or part of our lives that we’re working on making our past.

  25. Thank you Pastor Gallagher for coming by and please continue to share you wisdom with our readers. Our world, our nation is in desparate of God’s liberating truth without compromise.

I did not know that Dottie herself had accepted the inclusionism doctrine. Its sad, it reminds me of King Solomon who let tolerance and diversity destroy his once great life and wisdom.

  26. Notice how Jesus Christ of Nazareth who walked this earth and shed his blood on the cross for the forgiveness of sins NEVER ONCE mentioned homosexuality in any of the GOSPELS. Please just notice that.

    –a Born-Again heterosexual woman

  27. you’re using faulty logic….Jesus also never mentioned a host of other issues such as zoophilia in the Gospels….but he had already covered that stuff in Leviticus….read John 1:1

  28. RE: Noelle response

Pls read Romans 2:26-28. (26) The New Testaments says For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. (27) And likewise also the men leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one to ward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. (28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mine, to do those things which are not convenient. (32) Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. God loves all of us, but God is a holy God and one thing He cannot stand is sin. His wish is that no man perish, but it’s God’s way or no way. Sin of any kind is a stink in God’s nostrils.(His word not mine) We are to love everybody, but hate their sin.

    May God Bless All

  29. Can someone prove to me that Dottie herself was for this ‘Gospel of Inclusion’ that everyone’s talking about?

I just can’t believe it, after listening to her many convicting songs over the years.

Obviously, she is not here to clear her own name.

I was told by leaders of Charisma and the ICCC, the church which Dony and Reba are a part of, that they went to this convention unawares of what the agenda was. I am having a hard time believing that, as this sounds like an eye-witness account of a foot-washing that occurred, and details of why it was done.

  30. Before judging and condemning Dony and Reba Rambo McGuire – May I suggest that you attend their church and find out first hand what they believe and what they teach.

GCMW: Tina, since we will not be attending, why dont you tell us exactly what they believe and teach? Be detailed. That’s going on the assumption that you are a member of the church and have been there for a sufficient amount of time in order to judge whether or not what they teach and believe actually lines up with the Bible.

  31. Is it really necessary for Jesus Christ during his ministry to literally spell out homosexuality is wrong? John 10:30 says ” I and my Father are one”. If God says that homosexuality is an abomination then Jesus feels the same way. John 17:21-23 “That they all may be one; as thou Father art in me and I in thee that they also may be one in us…that they may be one even as we are one;I in them and thou in me that they may be made perfect in one and that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them as thou hast loved me. A house divided against itself will fall.

Proverbs 8 is a prophetic revelation of Jesus Christ verse 7-9 “For my mouth shall speak TRUTH and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are plain to him that understandeth and right to them that find knowledge” Further down in the same passage he speaks about being with God from the very beginning (verse 22-36). The message is the same Jesus came to do the will of his father. We are admonished to love what he loves and hate what he hates . John was instructed to write for these words are TRUE and faithful (sound familiar?) . Rev 21:5. He who sat on a horse was called FAITHFUL AND TRUE and in righteousness he doth judge…and his name is called The Word of God. Rev 19:11&13. There are posts by people who ramble on without scriptural references to back up their arguments and neglect the word of God. But thank God for the consistent resourceful digging deep in the word for more than oft repeated scriptures posters to back up their stance on what the bible has to say about homosexuality. “But the fearful and UNBELIEVING and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolators and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death. God and Jesus Christ are consistent because they are one. Receive it and believe it (the whole word of God) or doubt it and do without it. The choice is completely yours but the ramifications could be costly with the wrong choice.

  32. I am a member of The River At Music City, and a personal friend of Pastor’s Dony and Reba.

    Here’s exactly what we teach:

We have all sinned and need Jesus. Jesus died for our sins and it is through Him we have salvation. We are not a gay church. We do not condone homosexuality, nor embrace it as a lifestyle, as many have incorrectly stated in this blog
(which, by the way is gossip, and certainly those of you so well-versed in scripture should know that gossip is indeed a sin). We do, however, love and accept all people: gay, straight, black, white, sinners and saints. We believe that love is the key. That’s what Jesus said was most important, so that’s what we do. We also believe that the power of that love is strong enough to move mountains of sin in anyone’s life. We believe that it is entirely possible to befriend and show the love of God to someone, even if we do not agree with their choices. God will be everyone’s ultimate judge, not us. We teach exactly what the Word says, pandering to no one. We believe that God has more than enough power to clean people up- we don’t need to do that.

As I stated in another thread on this blog regarding Pastors Reba and Dony:

Some of the comments here are really sad to read. You have head knowledge of scripture, but no heart knowledge. You hear, but don’t understand.

The truth here is that we are all sinners- Jesus said if you’ve committed one, you’ ve committed them all. That pretty much makes everyone here gay, murderers, liars, adulterers, etc. Jesus said it- not me. If you want to argue, do it with Him.

How pious to think that those gathering in a “gay” church are any different in God’s eyes than those gathering in other churches. They have sin too. Sin is sin. It doesn’t make homosexuality right, but many of you think far too highly of your own sins, failing to see that they are no different. Sin has no rank- only the earthly consequences are different. If I murder, I go to jail, take drugs and I might die, etc. God sets life and death before us and tells us to choose life! He also tells us the way of the transgressor is hard.

When Pastor’s Dony and Reba participated in the now infamous foot- washing service at the gay church in California, they were not openly supporting homosexuality. They were asking the gay community to forgive them for not showing love! Christians have persecuted homosexuals for years, all in the name of God. They’ve been beaten, had crosses burned on their lawns, and endured other despicable acts at the hands of the christian community. This is wrong and is not God.

If you really want to bring change to the homosexual community, start loving them. Show them what Jesus looks like, and eventually, they will want it. Conversely, the enemy would like for you to do just the opposite, because he knows that love will bring change. He wants you to keep excluding, judging, etc.
That only pushes people away. Jesus said that we were to pray “Thy kingdom come”. That kingdom is love. We bring it near to people, and it has the power to change lives.

Here’s the sobering truth: as you sit in church, whether you know it or not, the person next to you has some type of sin going on (this includes you). Maybe they are involved in an affair. Habitual lying. Alcoholic.
Fornication. Gossip. Thief. Murderer. Drugs. Pedophile. Bad thoughts. Wanting your neighbor’s stuff. Cheating on taxes. Little white lies… Jesus said if you’ve committed one, you’ve committed them all! I bet you never considered yourself a murderer, huh? There’s no way we can be clean except through Jesus. He came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. He was the only man tempted in all ways, remaining sinless. Our salvation is new every day. Where sin abounds, grace is bigger! This is no license to sin, rather, it frees us from our need to sin.

There is a spirit of religion that causes us to puff-up in defense of the scriptures, but it is a false spirit; “anti-christ”, even though it seems admirable. It is “anti” what Jesus taught- love. That doesn’t mean telling everyone that whatever they want to do is ok, no! It’s preaching His word, but not doing away with them if they choose otherwise. The true spirit of Christ is love. He said it was the most important thing. He doesn’t need us to defend the scripture, rather, He tasks us with living out the scripture.

I wonder how different this whole blog site would be if it posted acts of love? Instead of gossip about the latest supposed pastors/singers/etc. involved in the gay community and how awful it is, what if the posts were:

Has anybody heard if people are out there showing the love of God to the outcasts?

I heard that there’s a church in Nashville where people can come and not be afraid of being rejected!
    Get the news out!

Cynthia Clawson is showing the love of God to all people! Praise God for this great report. We pray that this wonderful obedience will pave the way for Him to move in their lives!

How wonderful the world would be if we really trusted the power of His love to do all the clean-up…

  33. I also want to say that I have know Pastor’s Reba and Dony for almost five years now, and they are two of the finest people I have ever known. They have given away cars, money, equipment, food- you name it- to help others. I personally know of a situation where they went into a dangerous crack house to rescue someone they didn’t even hardly know. They then went to this person’s home (which had not been cleaned because of the drugs, etc.) and literally cleaned up dog-poo and other disgusting things in the home to try and help this person. Because of the love they showed, that person gave his life to Christ and is in seminary today.

They truly seek God and show His love. They love the outcasts without judgement. They are doing something big in Nashville, and God is right in the center of it.

  34. Carla, like a lot of people you ignore and bypass the intent and content of the post to launch into some extended puff peice of your favorite preacher/preacherette. Your full of useless platitudes about love and outcasts etc and long, judgmental sermonizing. Who cares if they gave away cars and money? Oprah does that and she’s a new age priestess.

FYI…the above eyewitness account was written by a gay christian in attendance at the event.

If you really wanted to REFUTE what was said and you actually do KNOW the McGuires like you say you do, you would have asked them why they kissed, wiped and cried at the feet of homosexual pastors without ever telling them that they were living in direct opposition to God’s word.

How can the McGuires sanctify something God has condemned? Thats like pouring perfume on a pig.

Why dont you go ask them and then report back their response?

  35. I answered your question regarding what we believe at The River At Music City, and made it quite plain.

GCMW: You havent answered anything. First, because I never asked what RMC believed. That has nothing to do with what happened at the homosexual church your pastors attended. What you did was rearrange your self-serving defense of the McGuires for being at a gay church in the first place. What were they doing in CALIFORNIA at a homosexual church when they live in Nashville?

FYI- I read the post by the gay attender, and maybe you should read it again, because nowhere does she state that Pastors Reba or Dony said that homosexuality was acceptable. All they did was love these people- exactly what Jesus told us to do.

GCMW: FYI- Carla, I get it now. The person who wrote it was mistaken and misinterpreted what your pastors were doing. Even though any sensible person can see otherwise, you wouldnt admit that because your goal is to defend your leaders. Understandable, but not acceptable when they violate the word of God and call it love.

You still listen but do not hear. You see, beating people over their heads for years about all their sin has done little to make them want Jesus. It’s the LOVE of God that leads men to repentance. For Pastors to wash their feet and apologize for past behaviors and throw in some condemnation at the same time would have completely rendered the apology futile. Do you not get it?

GCMW: Wow, I get it now! So all it takes is to just go to a gay church wash their feet, cry and say youre sorry for kicking them out of church and they will repent? Astonishing! So, Carla, AFTER the McGuires bowed before them, how many of the homosexual “outcasts” repented of their sin and walked away from their sexual immorality? Given the criteria you just set, Im sure all of them did, right?

Now that I’ve answered your question, please answer mine:

    Are you sinless?

GCMW: Red herring alert. Carla, please cite any statement where I or any other person has said that they are “sinless”. If you have a point to make, just do it without more sidebar distractions.

  36. My point is pretty obvious.

It’s also obvious that you are determined to think what you will, and I bless you (mean it).

I believe that one day the kind of love I’m talking about will turn your world upside down and you will use this same bold forum to spread it all over the world.

    Everything’s a seed…

(In case you can’t imagine my face right now, I’m grinning.)

    Love To YOu- Mean it!

  37. I have attended The River At Music City and am also a friend of Dony and Reba. Everything that Carla has stated is exactly the truth.

How does loving someone violate God’s word?

    GCMW you stated to Carla:
GCMW: You havent answered anything. First, because I never asked what RMC believed.

Ahh, but look above at Tina’s post:
GCMW: Tina, since we will not be attending, why dont you tell us exactly what they believe and teach? Be detailed.

You did ask… and you got the answer in full detail, but you just refuse to accept it. God loves you despite the fact that you can’t open your eyes and open your ears to the truth of God’s love.

Thanks, Carla for everything you said in your post. I truly get what you say and believe it 100 percent.

  38. I stand corrected. I did ask. Thanks.

    But lets fine tune this.

The RC pastors went to a homosexual church in California, washed the feet of homosexual pastors and repented for “excluding” them? How is this scriptural and how is it loving to repent for what the bible says is sin. Sin excludes you from the body, from relationship with Christ and from God. Yet, the Rambos want us to believe that doesnt matter? And why AGAIN were they at a homosexual church in the first place if they believe homosexuality is wrong. Would they go to a white supremacy church, wash their pastors feet and repent? Isnt homosexuality the same type of sin as racism?

So, Dann, How about we address that since that was at the core of this post in the first place. From that

  39. You stated:
And why AGAIN were they at a homosexual church in the first place if they believe homosexuality is wrong.

I answer with a question (as Jesus often did):
Why did Jesus hang out with sinners when He believed that sin was wrong?

Why did he touch those that the religious folks considered “unclean”?

  40. So Dann if I am understanding, based on the analogy you gave

    1. The homosexual pastors are indeed unclean sinners
    2. Jesus repented to and washed the feet of sinners

Thus, you are sayin the Rambos believe the homosexual pastors are unclean sinners who in order to “reach” them needed to wash their feet, cry and repent to them.

If you could just provide me with an example of Jesus doing this in scripture, maybe I could see it a little clearer. Or if you could just give me a scripture which tells us that in order to get people saved or into the church we should have a feet washing and repent to them.

  41. 1. We are indeed ALL unclean sinners.
Homosexuals, Heterosexuals, Black, White, Adulterers, Murderers, Liars, Gossipers, Cheaters, Stealers etc.

But the amazing thing is, Christ died for all sin.
So it doesn’t really matter who we minister to because God loves each just as much as the other. The important thing is that we spread the good news of Christ’s love and forgiveness to all people. Why be so selective to who you share that with?

I cannot find anywhere where Jesus repented to and washed the feet of sinners, but of course I never said that in my post. I said he hung out with sinners… as a matter of fact he allowed a prostitute, Mary, to pour oil on his feet and wash it with her hair. According to your analogy if she was such a sinner, He should have stopped her and had nothing to do with her… is that what you are saying? Don’t minister to homosexuals? Don’t repent for mistreating them? Don’t repent for not following Jesus’s highest mandate – to love as we love ourselves?

Where does it say in scripture to not wash people’s feet and to repent when you feel like you have robbed someone of the Love we are supposed to give? If this is what you are saying, how could we minister to anyone at all???

  42. I knew Dottie Rambo for 25 years. Lived with Buck and/or Dottie three times. I can tell you for a fact she did not condone or support Gay ‘s. She loved and prayed for everyone in her concerts and in daily life. I do remember her calling a good friend and telling them to get out and away from the people she was involved in ministry with. I heard her myself tell that person that she felt in her spirit they were lesbians. She told this friend to get out and don’t look back. Buck Rambo was adament that it was wrong and a sin.
She had alot of gay fans. She loved them all. I never heard her call them names or criticise, but she did pray for them. Dottie Rambo was a Bible woman. What ever she wrote, whatever she felt about something, she looked to the Bible.
Can’t speak for Reba, but Dottie Rambo was not a supporter of homosexuality. She would never hurt someones feelings, she never judged. She ministered to a gay guy at a service i attended with her in Texas. He came through the crowd to be prayed for. I was standing right behind her. She laid hands on him and he hit the floor. She got down on the floor and whispered to him…do you believe that I know why you came up for prayer, without you telling me? Do you believe me when I say The Lord has revealed it to me? He said yes. She then , there on the floor, without emabarrassing him, prayed for him. When we returned to our motel room, she asked me if I had seen what she did with that young man? I said I had. She said, I knew what he came up there for before he said a word. He wanted deliverance from homosexuallity. She was teaching me how to minister. She said, never embarrass anyone. Never call out their problem. Lay hands on them and quietly whisper your prayer for them.
It wasn’t her personal opinion, it was what she saw and believed from the Bible.
She truly was, as Reba states in the song she wrote about her mom….not from around here. the poet has flown…..for sure.
