Anglican division has "already happened"

With the formation of the  Global Anglican Future Conference in Jerusalem, the end is near for what has been known as the Worldwide Anglican Communion. Although the recognized head of the dissenting group of Anglicans (labeled as conservative) said there would be no breakaway, a US theologian says it has already happened.

Dr. Albert Mohler explains why the religious organization has reached an impasse on biblical issues and why the division has already occured. All that is left he says is the formalization of it.  Archbishop Peter Akinola of Nigeria declared that “a sizable part of the Communion is in error and not a few are apostate.” Apostasy and error are the chief charateristics of a church which no longer values the authority of scripture. The same can be said of an individual. If you want proof of that, simply browse our archives.

Unfortunately, those who no longer view the Bible as the foundational source of Christian authority have forced this spilt. And the division is driven by two major issues: the acceptance of homosexuality which is a byproduct of rejecting biblical authority. The 2003 ordination of the openly homosexual bishop Vickie Gene Robinson became the flashpoint of this entire conflict and arguably remains so until this day.

What a sad day, but every church should take note. We can no longer be in fellowship with those who subvert and pervert the gospel of Jesus Christ. That seemed to be the point of Akinola’s GAFCON speech.

“Some people interpreted our response (to break communion with the Episcopal Church) as judgmental, but we had to stand up for our convictions based on the word of God (the Bible) and the faithful witness of a long succession of Anglicans, rather than fall for anything in the name of enlightened logic and the dictates of modern cultural trappings.”

We have said it before and will say it again. The time has come to choose sides.  There is no middle ground. The word to the church –and you– is the same:

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’s side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. (Exodus 32:26)

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. (Rev 3:15,16 AKJV)

Some falsely claim that this is not a “black and white” issue, that there are too many gray areas. Bishop Eddie Long claimed there was still much “we dont know”, thus the need for more “dialogue.” But nothing could be further from the truth. God has already spoken, settled and confirmed his word for all eternity.  The problem is that people do not want to accept what God has said and are creating division based on their own willful disobedience.
