California Pastors: silence and rebellion in the golden state

Pastors of some Methodist churches in California are jumping on the gay marriage bandwagon while defying not only their denomination’s ban on performing homosexual marriages, but trampling scripture in the process. The gay marriage industry and the potential dollars it can generate seems to have captured the lustful eye of the church.

According to an LA Times article, 82 pastors in the Methodist church “signed a resolution in June offering to perform such weddings on behalf of ministers who feel they can’t do so themselves.” The article says the renegade ministers have been emboldened by the regional churches support of the rogue judicial decision (against the clear will of the people) to remake California into a homosexual marriage enclave.

Although, the article mentions two bishops who seem to be opposed to the pastor’s actions, it is a passive response.

What’s interesting is that although the Mormons are seen as a Christian cult, the church and its leadership has been vocal against same sex marriage in California. The church has urged its membership in the state to get involved and help defeat on the ballot.

Although the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) issued a proclamation against same sex marriage under the GE Patterson administration, there has been no reinteration of that publicly by Bishop Charles Blake, the current bishop and a California resident.  While the proclamation is forcefully worded, there is no practical application for pastors.  And we’ve heard much talk about the black church being a “prophetic voice“, and “speaking truth to power”, but someone is either highly intimidated by the homosexual powers that be or a paid prophetic voice. At any rate, we have heard no such speaking truth about homosexuality running rampant in black churches. Just eerie silence.

The birthplace of pentecostalism with its loud, joyful noise, tongue talking and estatic dancing is quiet about homosexuality. Could it be that all the noise is a cover for shallow theology?

Who knows how long it will be before the errant Methodist pastors are joined by the pentecostals in performing homosexual marriages just because it is legal?

  1. Their action to accept homosexuality in marriage seems to be a flash point or a starting point for many to become acceptable in difference churches around the world. It maybe for the lust of money, pure numbers of members to grown into some type of Mega church or what some say, “To show love everybody”. What ever the reason maybe they have been deceived.

  2. You know Pastor Foster,
Your statement hits the nail on the head,

“And we’ve heard much talk about the black church being a “prophetic voice“, and “speaking truth to power”, but someone is either highly intimidated by the homosexual powers that be or a paid prophetic voice. 1. I believe what we are experiencing the silence and void from all the Churchdom in America to what I call the Goliath Intimidation Factor. There are many Sauls in Church leadership who still hold the title, position, and mantle–but GOD is not with them for the “mantle has been torn from them” 2. A lot of the leaders are “paid prophets” or “hirelings”, not equipped or anointed to have the heart and courage to confront Goliath as David did!

    Great Post!

  3. Sadly, I’m not surprised about the Methodist pastors out West. Most of those churches are empty shells of Christianity.

  4. My pastor just preached a sermon dealing with what the CHURCH will do when it, as a whole, becomes angry. He pointed out how Saul and the priest who came to anoint David represented the “old” church. Those who have power, but are letting the fire go out.
David represented the “new” church, our teens and young adults who ANGERED by the slick, caniving antics of Satan and his ignorant imps and are on fire for God, full of the Holy Ghost and ready to fight for the Kingdom…. BUT….
They aren’t allowed to because the youth doesn’t sing, dress, dance, witness, testify, interceed, etc. the same way our forefathers did. And the members of the
I believe this is taking place today all over the world, but mainly in California due to Satan’s understanding of how God has poured His spirit on this state for many years. Many outpourings and awakenings have been done there and if Satan has his way, none will ever take place there or anywhere else.
