Lessons in effigy hanging?

The Atlanta Journal Constitution [source] says the US Secret Service is “investigating” an effigy hanging in Plains, GA. The reason: it was a dummy with Barack Obama’s name on it.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan told The Associated Press that the large black doll was found Saturday morning along Main Street in the small town of Plains.

According to footage from WALB-TV, the doll was hanging by a noose in front of a red, white and blue sign that says “Plains, Georgia. Home of Jimmy Carter, our 39th President.” A witness told the television station that the doll wore a sign with Obama’s name on it.

This is very curious, because just last year homosexual activists for the second year in a row “desecrated” effigies of white, female political/social figures and celebrated.

The activists started in 2008 by hanging Sarah Palin and burning John McCain effigies:

No mention of secret service, criminal activity or investigations on the Palin hanging and burning McCain. But its no big deal according to the homosexual couple because (1) its halloween (2) hanging a white woman is less intense than hanging a black man (3) its art (4) its normal in the gay enclave of West Hollywood (5) its acceptable, harmless political expression.

But is it? I don’t condone effigy hangings or burnings of anyone, but the two cases are literally identical, yet one is being treated as criminal the other as gays just letting off a little political art steam.

It goes without saying that if someone had done something similar to an gay man’s effigy, the hate crime heroes would have descended on Plains, GA with bullhorns and rainbow sheets and ropes.

  1. No Christian should be hanging a rope around a dummy during halloween (Christians shouldn’t be celebrating halloween anyway)or any day of the year for that matter. Nor should any Christian support this kind of foolishness.
