Cliffhanger: Lou Bordisso's "next step" manifesto for gay christians

nextstepVALLEJO, Ca – What’s the next step for gay christians? According to one Vallejo (CA) gay cleric, its something akin to a David Koresh-like cliffhanger.  The doctrines, speeches and manifestos slithering out of the mouths of  gcm leaders just  gets stranger as the day goes by.

Its rather astonishing that the The Vallejo Times-Herald actually published Father Lou Bordisso’s narcissistic screed guest opinion, but it did. That’s free speech in action. Vallejo is located northeast of San Francisco on the San Pablo Bay.

In case you’re not familiar with our reporting on Burdisso, here’s a brief recap.

By force of complaint, Bordisso is a central figure in the local community. In 2009, he ran for the school board and was defeated. He is a “bishop” in a small denomination called the American Catholic Church and is a contentious man who despises the attempts of local Christian pastors to foster unity and free speech rights. Under the guise of gay equality, Bordisso has been at the forefront of a number of divisive efforts which fomented ill will against the city’s black pentecostal Mayor Osby Davis falsely accusing the mayor of running a “nascent theocracy government.”

When local community leader and Pastor Danny Jefferson spoke briefly before a city council meeting on why Vallejo shouldnt endorse “gay pride month” organized by Bordisso immaturely complained Pastor Jefferson was “raining on our parade”.

Before the council, Jefferson simply stated the obvious:

“Until now, each side has been free to exercise their Constitutional rights to hold and even express their belief. This is not to say that there has not been controversy.  Tolerance for the belief of others has been a goal, not always an achievement.

…it is troubling that so many now want the government to take sides in this issue by endorsing a gay pride month.  To be clear, this is not a request to allow individuals to express their beliefs, it is a demand that the government use its power to applaud those beliefs.

Certainly anybody who asked for a gay disapproval month would be criticized. Tolerance should not be a one way street.  If the rule is that the government should not take sides, then let’s be consistent.  The City of Vallejo should allow individuals to express their views on this controversial subject.  But it should not step in to advocate, even subtly, for one side or the other.”

Bordisso has even been helped along by a stealth New York Times reporter Scott James, who claimed he was “vilified” by GCM Watch for reporting on the issues in Vallejo. Hardly.

So it stands to reason that Bordisso would apparently out of some unrequited ambitions, come up with his newest weapon of misinformation. A gay christian/queer theology manifesto. Among the more salient cliff notes published by the paper:

1. Refuse to talk to people who believe homosexuality is a sin while you loudly complain about tolerance and understanding. Mel White redux?

“Lesbian and gay Christians too often waste time trying to have a reasonable dialogue with oppressive churches and clergy. The time has come to reject theologies, spiritualities and church teachings grounded in homophobic biblical interpretations, heterosexism, and outdated ancient philosophies.”

2. Embrace a false construct which will ensure you will never know the truth, thus setting you on path to hell. More on homosexual hermeneutics and its deadly consequences.

“Lesbian and gay Christians need to pursue a Queer Theology and embrace a hermeneutics of suspicion. Lesbian and gay Christians must interpret scripture and live within church structures in light being a part of the underside of society.”

3. Ignore real demons and create new ones  that you can cast out with your newly created queer spiritual authority.

“Queer Spirituality can only be authentic when seeking to cast out the demons of poverty, injustice, racism, violence, prejudice, exploitation, or homophobia in any form whether it is within us, our government, or our churches!”

The citizens of Vallejo would do well to exile Father Lou Burdisso to San Francisco so the city can get back to the business of building a good stable environment for all its residents. As for his queer theology, the bible has already warned us about the doctrines of devils that would surface in the last days. Here’s one in real time.

  1. A 62 year old man who has seen the hate of the ages from your “xtian” counter parts. Who grew up not knowing if I would arrive home alive for years. Your response does not even belong in the inbred backwoods of the south where I was raised.
“narcissistic screed ” that was a childish attempt–strike it out?? Is this article a draft?

#1. Why do you care that we want separatism? We have been subjected to hundreds of years of exclusion and forced inclusion while you rant and rave about our hell bound destiny. How many have you driven to suicide from your kinds statements??? Just as I have seen female friends who were gang raped supposedly into heterosexuality.

#2 Thank you very much..You are calling us Christians yet your statement reveals the truth of you exact belief about us. You quite clearly deny that we are able to examine scripture and translations for the truth with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. AS Christians we can claim this guidance.. Or do you think that only heterosexual Christains can guide us? Your response indicated that you can only respond in malice (the language of evil???) while we can rely on the new covenant’s contract of LOVE.

#3 You deny that these are the demons that face us why? Again the denial of the very teaching of the gospels. There is far more than just preaching and teaching in the gospel. Remember “love thy neighbor”? It does not include “poverty, injustice, racism, violence, prejudice, exploitation, or homophobia”??? You can sit on your fanny and do nothing but as for me and my LGBT sisters and brothers we choose JUSTICE and EUALITY and ALL THE HUMAN RIGHTS set forth in the U.N. CHarter second and the Gospels FIRST for ALL!!!!

  2. is it a crime not to believe in demons? I don’t believe in them and that doesn’t make me less a christian. what good does anyone get out of thinking a boogey monster is chasing them all day. people simply have the option to make good or bad decisions and that is because christ gives us a choice.

  3. J Bumpus, no its not a draft article. Once you see it, its been published.

In response to your other points:

    1. I didnt say that I cared whether or not you want “separatism”? But since you raised that, I truly hope that’s its not separatism from God. If that’s what you want, then there is no hope for salvation and whether you want to hear it or not. Hell is the destination for those who chose their own path in life apart from God.
And no, I havent driven anyone to suicide.

    2. My reference to gay christians is based on self identification. Look here for an example. Its clear that God has not commissioned anyone who is in unrepentant sexual immorality to guide his church. Such a person is not under the control of the Holy Spirit and thus would be nothing more than a blind guide.

    3. I do believe in demons and per Ephesians 6 defines our enemy and our warfare. There is no such thing as a “demon of homophobia” or a “demon of exploitation”. The statement was originally made by Lou Bordisso the gay christian cleric who is the subject of the article, not me. That may account for your confusion.

  4. To J Bumpas

I want to say this in “love”, but i disagree with you. Are you upholding the very thing, in which God hate…SIN!!! I pose these questions to you. Can you explain to me the following scriptures; I Cor 6:9-10, Rom 1:26-27, Lev 18:22 and 20:13. I know these scriptures are very clear and concise concerning homosexuality and the like, however i would like to hear your understanding of these scriptures. I know that the bible is right and Pastor DL or anyone else on here are not comdemning you, however, we must cry aloud and spare not. Why is it that those who practice this lifestyle and believe in it want us who disagree(according to scripture) to accept your demands and applaud your beliefs of inclusion as right. I am not understanding. Yes there are other sins and all unrighteous is sin, but why are you trying to justify your sin and then state that you are not hell bound. Sin cannot and will not enter into the prescence of God. Please explain the above scriptures to me and what they mean to you. In “love”, i am praying for you and all those who practice sin to get out the sin business and seek true deliverance that only can be found in Jesus.

  5. Will,

My friend, the bible speaks about demons, and our Lord Christ himself cast out many demons along w/his Apostles and we too who walk in his name, have the power also to do so. There is an old medival and rennaissance saying, the greatest trick the devil ever played, was convincing man that he never existed. And if I may there was a man I read about who didn’t believe in demons, the bible, Christ and etc., this man by the way, was considered by many to have one of the most brilliant imagnative minds of the last century. Well when he finally saw the light, he wrote a very thought provoking book, the man’s name was C. S. Lewis, and his book was called the Screwtape Letters’ a conversation between (2) demons and there attempted destruction of man. My friend one cannot be a christian and not believe in a literal heaven and not believe in a literal hell, those angels that were cast down w/Satan are demons. And allow me also to say, Christ came to also save us from the power of Satan and his minions (demons).

For if you do not believe in demons my friend, then you are already deceived, for Satan blinds many to the truth. For you must have a respect for the Enemey for whom without the Spirit of Christ we cannot defeat.

  6. J.Bumpus, homosexuality is sin.

You can cut and dice up the scriptures as much as you want to appease your conscience but Gods truth will prevail no matter how much the scriptures are twisted.

Also, you seem to be trying to make Christianity a works based salvation as if you are trying to prove to God how good you are. If we dont first start with repentance we are fooling ourselves.

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

    Luke 13:3
3 I tell you, no; but
unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

I implore you to forsake your error for “God is not willing that you should perish but that you should come to repentance” – 2 peter 3:9.

Will, funny you would say that about demons for the casting out of demons showed a very important point.

Luke 11:20 But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Am I reading these statements from Father Lou Burdisso correctly? so in order to get to God we must forget about what He really said? well alrighty then!

Its an unbeleivable thing, a lifestyle that has never been looked upon as right in Christianity and Judaism has all of a sudden become correct. So Christians and Jews througout history were confused and this so called “father” is correct.

If you dont believe in demons, read his comments, they are no doubt demonically influenced.

    Very sad!

    Blessings!!!

  7. Bro.T – I want to say this in “love”

Me: There is no love here. Ther is only a deceptive catch phrase that can be credited with driving millions from Christ over history. Read 1 Corinthians 13. Your personification of God with hate is old covenant. Sorry but that covenant was fulfilled. remember that the next time you eat ham or shrimp or do not marry your widowed sister-in-laW.

Bro.T – Are you upholding the very thing, in which God hate…SIN!!!

Me: Interesting..my God does not hate. Then too my God sent a Son who willingly gave His life for that covenant. I would suggest that you show us God’s “hate” under the new covenant?

Bro.T – I pose these questions to you. Can you explain to me the following scriptures; I Cor 6:9-10, Rom 1:26-27, Lev 18:22 and 20:13. I know these scriptures are very clear and concise concerning homosexuality and the like, however i would like to hear your understanding of these scriptures.

Me: You are walking a slippery slope that many theologians (both conservative and liberal) will advise you to abandon. I suggest you open your mind and read these explanations of these scriptures and more:

    http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_bibl.htm

    http://www.soulforce.org/article/homosexuality-bible-gay-christian

    http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/gay/long.htm

Bro.T – I know that the bible is right and Pastor DL or anyone else on here are not condemning you, however, we must cry aloud and spare not.

Me: According to the above citation you are NOT right. You BELIEVE you are right but the (1) that is your belief and (2) what gives you any right elevate yourself to the position of judge as your scriptural justification is shaky at best.

Bro.T – Why is it that those who practice this lifestyle and believe in it want us who disagree(according to scripture) to accept your demands and applaud your beliefs of inclusion as right. I am not understanding.

Me: (1)”practice” I think not no more than you “practice” heterosexuality. (2) According your translation (3) did you even read the subject article? Please show me where it demands that YOU do anything.

Bro.T – Yes there are other sins and all unrighteous is sin, but why are you trying to justify your sin and then state that you are not hell bound.

Me: Oh but wait you state that no one is condemning? Yet again you just cannot get beyond that idolatrous need to condemn. I will pray for you. after that one.

Bro.T – Sin cannot and will not enter into the prescence of God.

Me: What is grace? What sin is unforgivable?

Bro.T – In “love”, i am praying for you and all those who practice sin to get out the sin business and seek true deliverance that only can be found in Jesus.

Me: Thank you but I do quite well for myself me and the Comforter.

  8. Homosexuality is a demon that needs to be cast out.

There is freedom and deliverance in Christ if you want it. You can believe Jesus is your Savior all you want (like the demons), but if you don’t obey the Word of God, you are going to the Lake of Fire. Where you will never escape.

That;s why once saved always saved is such an evil doctrine you think just because your profess His name that there is nothing you can do to lose your salvation, wrong. He who practices sin is of the devil even after you say you believe in Jesus.

Everybody wants a Savior but nobody wants a Master and King to rule over them. Christ is identified equally as all three in the Bible.

  9. Paul N – homosexuality is sin.

Me: and Paul stated what about marriage?

1 Corinthians 7:1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

Paul N – You can cut and dice up the scriptures as much as you want to appease your conscience but Gods truth will prevail no matter how much the scriptures are twisted.

Me: No I do not need to theologians and translators who are much more knowledgeable than either of us have taken care of that. I have only heeded 2 Timothy 2:15. It looks like I am the only one here who has.

    Paul N – Matthew 7:21, Luke 13:3, 2 peter 3:9, Luke 11:20

Me: Now exactly where does it say homosexuality in a single one of these? Shoot I’ll even settle for sodomy. Oh but wait anyone care to tell me what were the sins of Sodom Ezekiel 16:49.

Paul N – Am I reading these statements from Father Lou Burdisso correctly? so in order to get to God we must forget about what He really said? well alrighty then!

Me: Care to cite the exact statement. I guess you do understand that the original “word” was NOT in english but translated by human beings…you know those creatures that are NOT PERFECT…

Paul N – Its an unbeleivable thing, a lifestyle that has never been looked upon as right in Christianity and Judaism has all of a sudden become correct.

Me: It is unbelievable that you know absolutely nothing about history. Greece, Rome, Israel. Your very claim is unprovable. Some of the first martyrs of the church in Rome were a homosexual couple. They are recognized as saints.

The vilification of sexuality is a relatively recent phenomenon.

Paul N – So Christians and Jews througout history were confused and this so called “father” is correct.

    Me: Prove your assumption (assertions/falacy).

Paul N – If you dont believe in demons, read his comments, they are no doubt demonically influenced.

Me: Where is there reference supporting poverty, injustice, racism, violence, prejudice, exploitation, or homophobia in Bp Lou’s article? Do you even have an idea of what a demon is? Cite Webster then say this again.

  10. J Bumpass….we are not trying to talk against your rights…what about your stance on homosexuality and what the scripture says. I hope you read my post on here to you and the scriptures i gave you. I say this is love my brother, read my post and think about it very hard what i am trying to convey to you. Seek deliverance while it may be found.

  11. To GMC Watch

I remember seeing on the internet when the Carlton Pearson stuff had just come out. There was a letter on the internet from Oral Roberts to Carlton Pearson. It was very moving to me…The words were and I quote “Carlton please consider and turn back from what you are doing”, but these words really touched me…”I plead, I beseech, I beg you to stop this now”. What powerful words. I use these words especially with those who are in error and really need to find God in a real way. All this inclusion mess and homosexual things going on…we really need to pray and ask God to open our hearts to live holy. Be Blessed

  12. Where is there reference supporting poverty, injustice, racism, violence, prejudice, exploitation, or homophobia in Bp Lou’s article?

“Queer Spirituality can only be authentic when seeking to cast out the demons of poverty, injustice, racism, violence, prejudice, exploitation, or homophobia in any form whether it is within us, our government, or our churches!”

    J. Bumpus, read the article. Its right there in black and white. Frankly, Im not understanding your rebuttals. They dont make sense. If you are looking for a platform to argue the delusionists point of view, it wont be here.

  13. To J Bumpas

Let me respond to your answers and some are vauge at best.

My statements to you was in love. THe bible says with lovingkindness have i drawn thee. I am writing this to you in love. I don’t hate you, but trying to help you understand what the word says about same sex/homosexuality. Sounds like God has turned you over to a reprobate mind.

God does not hate the sinner, but he does hate sin. As a matter of fact he abhors sin. And the Gay lifestyle is an abomination to him.

I really wanted you to explain those scriptures not some website that was written by homosexuals trying to justify their sin. True repentance requires a change of direction.

Hebrews 12:14 states Follow peace will all men and holiness withour which no man shall see the Lord. Holiness is what God requires. Your belief is i can live any kind of way and yet be saved. Sorry, can’t do it. When those who love their sin want to remain they justify and twist the scriptures to fit their sin. I may comprehend the fancy vocabulary and understand all of that, but I do know and understand what the bible says. This one thing i do know, if you think you can make it to heaven doing what you are doing then i know i am ok not doing it and i’ll make in it. I hope you repent and turn to God while he may be found.

  14. yeah, meet J Bumpus. He is making the Lou Bordisso person look rather tame with all this regurgitation of nonsense.
Carlton Pearson rejected Oral Roberts plea to repent. Once you have crossed a line with God, you are at his mercy not man’s. Thats actually a far worse thing.
He thinks his anger is at us, but really he’s contorted with God because the differences between whats right and wrong has already been set by God.

Thankfully God is divine enough to love J Bumpus until he comes to his senses. Romans 2:1 I would say though everything has a time limit. Even God’s patience.

  15. Bro. T you are trying to dialogue with a reprobate. Bumpas does not want to change. You are right on with what you had to say, but talk to someone who truly wants deliverance. That guy only hears himself and the devil.

    Be Blessed!!!!

  16. Some of you dear brothers have either tenacity or patience, or perhaps both – I was bored after reading Mr. Bumpus’s first comment.

And do I have to say that I mean that in love for fear of being labeled a “xtian”?

    Just too much.

  17. I know Angela, its like every once in a while somebody comes along and its just too much too quick. Lord, increase my patience. And please hurry up! lol

  18. For real Pastor, I think JB can rival M.A.W.

I cant even be bothered to go through his flawed arguments. He has no intention of coming to the knowlegde of the truth based on his love for pervesion.

    John 3:19
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

  19. gcmwatch (author) said:

Where is there reference supporting poverty, injustice, racism, violence, prejudice, exploitation, or homophobia in Bp Lou’s article?

“Queer Spirituality can only be authentic when seeking to cast out the demons of poverty, injustice, racism, violence, prejudice, exploitation, or homophobia in any form whether it is within us, our government, or our churches!”

gcmwatch – J. Bumpus, read the article. Its right there in black and white. Frankly, Im not understanding your rebuttals. They dont make sense. If you are looking for a platform to argue the delusionists point of view, it wont be here.

Me: NO you read it. It states “seeking to cast out the demons” in what language does “cast out” indicate support? If so then ytou are indicating that Christ supported the demons that he cast out into the swine.

    You are one confused puppy.

  20. Deacon Mike –Bro. T you are trying to dialogue with a reprobate. Bumpas does not want to change. You are right on with what you had to say, but talk to someone who truly wants deliverance. That guy only hears himself and the devil.

Me – Judgment in the place of God is self iodolaTRY…

  21. J Bumpus, in your ignorance and your apparent arrogance, I would be more concerned with the last words God will have with you in judgment than anything any of us standing for righteousness in this forum could articulate.

Deacon Mike, I agree with your sentiments. JB is a reprobate that is more inclined to argue emotion, semantics, guilt-induced tripe and deliberate manipulation rather than the merits of the irrefutable Word of God. Further, this person will need to have a strong desire for deliverance. His string of comments prove the opposite.

GCM, this is your blog, but it would serve everyone here that JB, and others willing to defend blatant error, be prevented from further posting.

  22. “Deacon Mike –Bro. T you are trying to dialogue with a reprobate. Bumpas does not want to change.”

Notice the subtle name change, I think that it is quite clear what you are up in here to do!

  23. I must say that my heart goes out to all who have allowed the enemy to completly blind them. It almost seems unreal that folks really think that they are at peace with God while living in exact opposition of scripture. Where are the prayer warriors!!!!

  24. Min Davison yes it really is heartbreaking. For a person to reject the sacrifice of Christ, after he gave some much to provide a way to redemption, is beyond belief sometimes. I chose to give up all to follow Jesus: my sin, my perverted sexual desires, my rebellion, my good times, my assumed identity…everything. HE REQUIRES THAT. So I dont see why these who call themselves gay christians would exempt themselves just so they can hold on to their sexual perversion. Is it really worth selling your soul to fulfill your sexual desires? Is anything worth the eternal value of your soul? The solution isnt to get more rights or gain “acceptance”, start gay churches or accept your so called sexual orientation. The solution according to Jesus is to repent, deny yourself, give up all, take up your cross and follow him daily. He never said it would be easy, but it is what he requires for every person who would follow him.

  25. Can someone post a link to Father Bordisso’s full essay? The fact that a link wasn’t provided with this story makes it seem like the site is hiding something. Why open yourselves up to accusations of taking someone out of context? You make a better point by being completely open, honest, and thorough.

GCMW: Apologies and thanks for bringing it to our attention. The missing link was an honest oversight thats been corrected.
