Another Jesus?: a false christ by any other name

By brdavision

Wrong belief has always been a folly of man. From the moment Eve heard these words “Ye, shall not surely die.” and believed them, till now, man has been consumed with believing a lie. That lie destroyed our relationship with God, and also cursed this earth that we live on. Why was Eve deceived? Because she was tempted by the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.

But God in His infinite wisdom always had a plan to bring us back to Him. Jesus Christ: His one and only begotten son. John 3:16 Jesus delighted to do the will of  Father as the scriptures declared: “Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offerings and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.” Psalm 40:6-8

Jesus provided THE bridge for man to get back to God. In the dirty cess pool of false teaching that message of redemption by the death of Christ on the cross is often lost and deemed obsolete. People want to hear how they can prosper and be healthy and rich now.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Matthew 24:4 Jesus also said: “Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christ’s, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” Matthew 24:23-25

These false christs, that Jesus was speaking about are here right now. They may be called by other names to hide their true identity, but a false christ is a false christ no matter what the name. Each false movement has its own false doctrine, false teachers and made to order false christ. And you can always tell a false christ by checking their birth certificates.

Word of Faith leaders claim that Jesus did not pay for your sins on the cross. They claim that after he died on the cross, He went into hell and was under the authority of satan and his demons for three days. They also claim He was tortured and paid the cost for our sins in hell. Then, on the third day, God called out and said “That is enough!” then Jesus regained His deity and rose from the dead.

What’s the big deal you ask? This is a false belief! Christ paid the cost of sin on the cross not in hell. This is a distorted view of Christ, and a very dangerous one at that. Because its covered up by the word of faith vomit.

Word of faith teachers tell their followers that they can speak into existence whatever they want and as long as they believe it, God will do it. They completely remove sovereignty from God, and give it to man who now becomes self centered instead of God centered. God is then downgraded to a genie or farie Godfather. John MacArthur explained that these false teachers are giving the people exactly what satan offers. The pride of Life, the lust of the eyes, and the Lust of the Flesh.

This is why the ministry of warning is one of such importance. People, even the very elect, are being deceived. God poured His full wrath out on Jesus on the cross for all sins. Even the ones that hadn’t been committed yet.

When Jesus had completely paid the entire cost of sin on the cross He said: “It is finished.” John 19:30 The cost of sin had been paid and there was nothing else that needed to be done. God’s justice had been served and now we could be justified by our faith.

Then Jesus said: “Father into thine hand I commend my spirit…” Luke 23:46 This completely eradicates the word of faith doctrine belief that Jesus went to hell to be tortured for the sins of humanity. Jesus went to the place where all dead souls go called Sheol/Hades. Which had two sides, one side for the righteous and another side for the wicked. Read Luke 16:19-31

The Rich man, after he died, opened His eyes in hell or Sheol/Hades. The bibles clearly states he was being tormented. Lazarus however was seen in Abraham’s bosom, also know as Paradise. Remember the dialog between Jesus and the theif on the cross? “And he (the thief) said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:42-43

Now 1 John 1:7-9 says: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” If Jesus supposedly paid for our sins in hell then we are still guilty of sin. Why? Because Jesus’ physical body stayed here on earth and went into a tomb after the crucifixion.

The bible says: “This man (Joseph of Arimathaea) went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.” Luke 23:52-53. Jesus’ Spirit is what went into Sheol/Hades, if He was tortured how could blood come from a spirit? That’s not possible! The blood from Jesus was shed on the cross of Calvary. There, and only there was our true redemption purchased.

Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 Those who believe in a false Christ are still in danger of going to hell. That’s why we must stand boldly and contend for the faith. There are many souls at risk!

5 ways to identify false Teachers:

1. Test their lifestyle.
2. Test their character.
3. Test their doctrine.
4. Test their influence.
5. Test their prophecies.

  1. Excellent post! After being delivered from the “word of faith” doctrine, I can say without any doubt that it truly is “another gospel” being preached. I will be definitely share this with others! Thanks BRD!

  2. It seems as though I’m encountering more and more “good” people who have been deceived by Word Faith. It is soooo sad. Word Faith panders to our innate greed and desire for control, exactly what satan appealed to and exactly the opposite of “Thy will be done”

  3. Good ariticle! I believe that another way you test if they are a false teacher is that their spirit should bare witness with your spirit (the Holy Ghost inside you). My late grandmother use to pray this prayer: “Lord let me know You.”

St. John 10:4-5 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: FOR THEY KNOW HIS VOICE. AND A STRANGER THEY WILL NOT FOLLOW, BUT WILL FLEE FROM HIM: FOR THEY KNOW NOT THE VOICE OF STRANGERS.

You may not recognize a false teacher right away (always) because some are very clever and deceivable, but something won’t agree with your spirit. (1John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.)

(1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.)

This is why the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is so important to the believer. It will lead, guide and teach you all things. LORD, LET YOUR PEOPLE KNOW YOU.

  4. @Kagcogic-you said “This is why the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is so important to the believer. It will lead, guide and teach you all things. LORD, LET YOUR PEOPLE KNOW YOU.”

This is a true statement for today’s Christians. This comes with much study of God’s word and us lining up our lives with that word and allowing the Holy Spirit of God to control our lives. Thanks for reading!

John 10:4-5 With this scripture in mind, a good question is: Are these people who follow Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Fred Price, Joel Osteen and others really saved?

  5. @BRD………NO! Perhaps have a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. (And I believe you and the other readers know where that’s found.)

  6. Yes maam I do 2 Timothy 3:5 but lets see it in full context:

2 Timothy 3 (King James Version)

    2 Timothy 3
1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

    4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was.

10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

    14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

  7. Good Read. Indeed, our salvation was purchased on the cross, through the blood of Christ. Excellent observation you made:
” Jesus’ Spirit is what went into Hade/Sheol, if he was tortured how could blood come from a spirit? That’s not possible! The blood from Jesus was shed on the cross of Calvary. There, and only there was our true redemption purchased.”
    May I add
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the CROSS
15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
    Col 2:13-15
and Phil 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of deah, even the death of the cross.

  8. @Jp-Thanks for reading sir! What I’ve noticed with false teachers is they are enemies of the cross. Meaning they will do whatever they have to do to dismiss the cross, and get others to do the same. But in doing this they let us know that they are not of God at all, they are of there true father, the devil.

What baffles me is this: False teaching and false doctrine cannot stand the test of a good sound bible study, yet so many are captives of its teachings. Its a sad day when we have an open book test on our desk (false teaching) and we refuse to use the book (the bible) to pass…..

  9. @JP-thanks for reading!! False teachers go out of their way to dismiss the cross of Jesus Christ! It is an offense to them and it shows us, who believe the word of God, just whose side they are really on. (satans)

I love that verse Phil 2:8 Jesus knew the shame associated with the cross before He was ever put on it, but His obedience to His Father triumph that shame and His humbleness allowed Him to save us from our sins. Any true Christian should not be embarrassed but forever grateful for the cross!

  10. @thesauros-that’s exactly correct “not my will, but thy will be done”

Its a shame that most people call themselves Christians but will not adopt the attitude of Christ whatsoever! Jesus, who is God, didn’t even demand of God. He submitted Hiself to the will of His Father…..Why do we think its ok for us?

  11. Good article brdavision. One of the most dangerous movements in 21st century Christianity has to be the Emergent Church. People like Brian McLaren, Jim Wallis, Rob Bell, and Tony Jones are some of the leading voices of the Emergent Church. Even Rick Warren is a wolf is sheeps clothing, he has a flavor of ecumencial new age occult teaching that is so subtle.

  12. That’s funny you mention that shofarsound I was reading some articles on the emergent church today about their heretical, anti-Christianity beliefs that are out there today….Check out this link: http://apprising.org/

To be honest I had never heard of this movement, but with what I read it is a dangerous one indeed! People need to be educated about this mess! These false christ they speak of have no power to save them at all….

  13. #1 Test their lifestyle.A great one to start off the list with. That eliminates so many people, particularly when using this criteria on those who make their living through radio and television “evangelism.” It is shocking to search around and see that the vast majority of these teachers live extravagant and luxurious lifestyles. Perhaps as disturbing as this, is the fact that so few people seem to be troubled by this fact.

  14. Brdavision gcmwatch has done several articles on the emergent church. To get up to speed on them look at the categories and click on emergent church

  15. The problem with Word Of Faith followers is they are blinded to the truth. It is their flesh that blinds them. They want to believe that THEY have the power to create as only God can do. That THEY have the power to call down God in what they call “the annointing.” I sat under a huge Word of Faith mega church in Ga. where the Associate Pastor. (now at the sister church in OC) taught students that God can do nothing unless we pray for it to happen first. This is false because God is either all powerful or He is not all powerful. But it makes the little WOF-ers fill like they have power. Faith becomes a mystical substance like
“The Force” in Star Wars. God, like the author says, becomes a genie in a bottle, here to grant you your every wish as long as you muster (works) to create (works) enough “faith.”
The saddest thing about WOF-ers and many dear friends are still caught up in this cult…is they are truly seeking doctrines to scratch their itchy ears. If Benny Hinn falls off the face of the Earth they will run to the next person that promises them riches and power.
I fell for WOF because I was a new Christian. I was drawn to the supposed “power” and the “anointing” which is really the exact same as saying “hocus pocus.” It is a code word that mind controlled WOF sycophants salivate to. But the Holy Spirit opened my eyes…after praying for discernment…and I saw the complete control, manipulation, and witchcraft involved in this false move.
I have been trying to reach those I knew while was in this cult….few listen most call me names and accuse me of “touching God’s anointed” or having a “critical spirit” or having let Satan get on me…etc.

  16. @Dave-Its crazy when you really think about it. Jesus didn’t even have a house or a place to sleep and people like jakes, Joyce meyers, and osteen live in million dollar mansions and then lie on Jesus by saying He was a rich man. This proves to me that they have no understanding of the scriptures and no understanding of why Jesus even came to this earth.

Jakes has been quoted calling “Jesus the product” and it blows my mind that people continue to follow these guys blindly. Blind to scripture and blind to the truth!

  17. @Brdavision, like Jamal Bryant sermon The Gospel Acoording to Avatar. This guy is completely ignorant, avatar is a demonic occultic hindu term. Avatar is a manifestation or appearance of a Hindu deity. Even the movie from what I’ve read has some gnostic/occult views within it. This type of false preaching/teaching introduces a Christians to occult terms and philosophies to co-mingle the Word and the occult. Bryant think he is being relevant with a catchy title and relating James Cameron movie Avatar relates to the church, however he being used as a instrument of Satan, he doesn’t even know it due to self deception and pride.

  18. Spelling Correction to the sermon title by JB is The Gospel According to Avatar. Spelled According incorrectly.

  19. @Shofarsound-Jamal Bryant is a complete joke….A really sorry excuse for a “preacher” and he will be held accountable for all the lies he has spread, and all the people he has fleeced! His very presence anywhere in regards to Christianity immediately brings the gospel under reproach….And yet the people eat it up like candy, sending him all their money while honest ministries struggle to make it…..He could care less about people and his lifestyle proves it.

My mother is AME and I have repeatedly warned her to stay clear of Bryant and his heretical, selfish, man centered, dangerous teachings…..thank God she has listened….

  20. I also thank God for this article. I think that I may have mentioned in another post that I had stepped away from the church that I was attending and THIS is part of the reason. I listened to those that were over me because they had exercised true gifts of prophecy and insight into the spiritual realm. And they were humble people, but when I was told that it was “my time” and God was prepping me for riches, greatness, etc. I got somewhat excited because I was NOT seeking these things so I figured that if God wanted to give them to me, He must be pleased with me. But years went by and by and by. And every “special” service or event, someone would stand up and say “Now is the time!” or “It’s your season to get what God has for you!”. And then a week would pass. And a month. And another year and nothing would happen. Then they would come back and beat the people verbally by saying that “if you had strong enough faith, it would’ve happened.”. Like another said before me, the Holy Spirit began to show me that I was being taught half-truths and whole lies. So I prayed and prayed that God show me Himself and keep me humble. And I thought that I was losing my mind for many months because of the conflict. Then when I finally spoke up about some of the plans for the ministry, I was labeled as divisive and uncooperative. I was “sat down” for disagreeing and no longer allowed to lead prayer in the services or lead worship. Its the best thing that ever happened to me. Yes my feelings are hurt. Yes I deal with bitterness. But now God can raise me in Spirit and in truth. And when I’m healed, I’ll speak out before many, the truth that I’ve been given. This is a testimony of one who was sincere in faith and yet, still fooled. Thank you again.

  21. @Tim-Thanks for reading. I’m sure many share your testimony of being turned on by church folk for speaking the truth. I’m one of them……….as I read your comment, I’m reminded of this scripture:

    Galatians 4:16 (King James Version)

16Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Paul wrote this to the Galatians because after he had taught them the Gospel, (Solid doctrine) false teachers had now come in and perverted the truth. The people were now turning on Paul the one who had been sent by God to minister unto them. The Judiazers were leading the people back under the law and trying to get them to believe that the work Jesus did on the cross was not enough.

We, because God has allowed us to know the truth presented in scripture, now become the enemy to those who still walk in blindness…..but no matter what we must always do whatever we can to speak the truth….someone just might received it…..God Bless!

  22. I especially like the photo of this eastern european version of “Jesus”. Even on the beach, you can pick these guys out a mile away….always wearing sandals with socks! C’mon folks, the real Jesus would not wear my mother’s red drapes, or ruin the sightlines of a nice pair of leather sandals, with white Reebok socks. BUT, I digress with the issue at hand here….and, in all seriousness, if we can be duped by such apparent frauds, one can only imagine what will happen when the anti-christ arrives in bodily form, performing miracles and wonders. It’s gonna be a very sad affair, indeed.

  23. @Jim-that is so true…..”the very elect shall be deceived” just like the bible says…..I’m starting to see that a lot of people who say they’re “christians” Do not reall follow the Jesus of the bible…..So they will say in judgment “Lord we did all these miracles in your name, and Jesus will reply “I never knew you…..”

    Now that’s scary….
