Breaking News: False prophet Carlton Pearson quits false church

CHICAGO – In breaking news WGN  Chicago has reported some members of the Christ Universal Temple are cheering the resignation of former pentecostal bishop turned gay affirming apostate Carlton Pearson.  [source]

After less than two years in the pulpit, the embattled interim leader of Christ Universal Temple has stepped down to make room for someone new to lead one of the city’s largest congregations.

The Rev. Carlton Pearson, once one of the nation’s pre-eminent Pentecostal preachers, stirred controversy from the moment he assumed leadership of the South Side mega-church in 2009.

Ousted from his mega-church in Tulsa, Okla. for teaching that Muslims, Buddhists, and homosexuals go to heaven, he joined the New Thought movement when selected to lead Christ Universal Temple.

But some members of the congregation objected to Pearson’s appointment, saying he lacked the theological training to lead a New Thought church. The movement uses a metaphysical interpretation of the Bible and focuses on healing, meditation and thinking positive thoughts to improve one’s life.

New Thought pioneer, the Rev. Johnnie Colemon, founded Christ Universal Temple in 1956. In 1974 she formed her own denomination, the Universal Foundation for Better Living (UFBL). Then in 2006, after building a $10 million religious empire, Colemon retired with no succession plan in place.

Pearson said he has expanded that empire by launching a $3.2 million capital expenditure campaign, a prime time television broadcast and a live stream of services on the Web.

“All the things that any normal church would want to happen did,” Pearson said. “I was trying to extend the church message beyond the church walls to a inclusive audience … They want to take the church in a different direction, back to where they were before I got there.”

The Rev. Roderick Norton, a church minister, said Christ Universal is now searching for a new leader within the New Thought movement.

“I think it’s the best thing that happened,” he said. But member Hermene Hartman disagrees.

“I think it’s our loss very honestly,” Hartman said. “I don’t think he has been fully appreciated or given the opportunity for expression of ministry. It’s too bad that Christ Universal Temple wasn’t interested in a new broad church.”

Pearson has been in flux every since he debuted his specious “gospel of inclusion” and was pronounced a heretic by the Joint College of African American Bishops. Afterwards he began shilling for the homosexual christian movement. Recently he appeared on CNN and announced that he knew many gay ministers and music ministers who wanted to come out of the closet, but couldn’t because of potential money and position losses.

Christ Universal Temple is a hybrid religious organization that believes in metaphysical newthought doctrines and a large faction of members had fought Pearson’s appointment since the very beginning.

Whether this is good or not remains to be seen, but it is a rather strange occurrence. A false church forcing a false prophet to resign because he’s not false enough.

  1. If inclusion was God’s plan, then heaven and hell would not be separated. Heaven separates those who know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ from hell, those who don’t know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. God would be a liar if He said I had to accept Jesus Christ for salvation and someone else didn’t have to accept Jesus Christ for salvation. God gives every man, woman and child an opportunity to go to heaven on His terms, not our own. All we [mankind] have to do is say yes to Jesus Christ. I liken it to addmission to a football game. Everyone who wants to see the game must buy a ticket. The NFL franchise will not allow some people to get into the game with a ticket and others don’t need a ticket. As a former homosexual, I had to renounce my sin, brought on by Adam and Eve’s fall in the Garden of Eden, If God says I needed to repent, then so does every living human being. God is not a respector of persons. New Thought is man refusing to believe the word of God and creating his own doctrine. Remember it’s God’s heaven and only He can say how and who will get in.

  2. The Bible, the Word of God, tells us how to get into heaven. Jesus Christ told Nicodemus that he must be born-again from the Spirit above. It’s suicide for us to think otherwise. God is not a God of confusion. We confuse things because we allow satan to poison your minds with his tripe. Lucifer was kicked out of heave and took 2/3 of the angels with him and he wants to keep as many people out of heaven as possible. There is only One Truth, Jesus Christ. Goodness is as a filthy rag in the eyes of God. Trying to live a “good life” can’t get you into heaven. Jeffery Dahmer and Ted Bundy repented of their sin because they opened their eyes about their sinfulness. God is not going to tell one person to repent and be baptized with the Holy Ghost and tell someone else that the Holy Ghost is not needed. Truth is Truth only to those who recognize it. What makes the Truth true? God and the word of God makes the Truth true, not opinions or speculations. Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the Truth and the life, no one comes to the Father [God} except by Me,” John 14:6. If we say not so, then we call God and Jesus Christ liars.

  3. The gospel of inclusion and the gospel of metaphysicality is the same doctrinal vomit. In fact all doctrines of devils are nasty, deadly and should be rejected as cursed. Those who promote such things should be treated as accursed. Gal 1:8 So I am glad he has met with failure although this still is a little strange. If you as a false prophet cant even hold a job at a false church, I guess youre pretty bad off.

  4. “A false church forcing a false prophet to resign because he’s not false enough.” Must admit, thats kind of funny. I was thinking why don’t they just call themselves the Universal Temple? You know, take Christ off.

  5. I hate the way she injected race into a subject that right now, affects both blacks and whites equally! We are lving in the End Times when men will be lovers of themselves, etc., etc.
Look at the landscape of “inclusion”. There are as many gay-Christians who have come out that are white as there are those who are black. God is not the author of confusion, and it seems that these people love to derail subjects about race, homosexuality, etc. so everyone is left scrathcing their heads and wondering if they are “bad” and “racist” because they believe in a literal HELL and a very Holy God who sent His Son to die a brutal death to pay for our sins, sexual and otherswise once we repent. The Old Testament Tabernacle was the blueprint of how we are to come to God, repentance first. John the Baptist came FIRST to preach repentance and bring people’s hearts back to a humble place before they could accept the Messiah!
The “23 minutes in Hell” author was on a program with Jentezen Franklin recently describing how terrible this place actually is, and how wrong these new preachers are and leading millions to believe a lie.
I know someone who, except for a last minute confession, may be there and the thought terrifies me. I’m not going to make up a lie to make myself feel better about it, as God’s Word already described this place!

  6. First of all, I follow this site on a regular basis, and applaud you Bro Foster for the stand for Holiness. I am not throwing stones, but when is Carlton Pearson going to “come out” once and for all? The old saying is ” lie down with dogs” and you will get up with fleas. Not calling anyone who is homosexual dogs, just using this as an analogy of how association brings about assimilation.

  7. It is clearly an interesting development but it cannot change the heart of an apostate (see Hebrews 6:4-8). “It is impossible…if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance”.

The moment that a person knowingly and with unambiguous language denounces Christ as Lord and Savior, all hope is abandoned.

Some will say, “What if Carlton Pearson comes back?” When a person tells a couple of preachers on a live broadcast show (Lexi) not to pray for him, and that the old Carlton isn’t coming back, what are you going to do? You can’t pray him back into the kingdom of light when you have become a minister of darkness (see 2 Corinthians 11:12-15).

Apostates are in a class by themselves.

If he decides to preach like he used to, what makes anyone think that he is back to being the real deal? Sometimes the spirit and the soul of man are so close that if you are not careful, you will not know the difference between the genuine move of the Spirit of God and deception cloaked in false prophetic emotionalism.

Remember Esau that lost his birthright (Genesis 27 and Hebrews 12:14-17).

Also remember Judas. He repented himself (see Matthew 27:3-10). That meant that he regretted what he did to Jesus. Judas didn’t seek forgiveness for what happened. Judas still went out and hung himself, and the Lord Jesus said it plainly. “…and none of them is lost except the son of perdition…” To betray Jesus is the root of an apostate.

Peter, on the other hand, denied Jesus, not betrayed Him. That’s the difference.

  8. This is good news, but it’s probably also bad news. Carlton Pearson, as corrupt and deluded as he is, is a gifted and sought-after speaker.

Therefore, [unfortunately] I’m sure he’ll bounce back just fine from this. Instead of being tied down to pastoring a single “church” he’ll now be able to operate as a free agent, speaking nationwide, writing books, doing radio/media appearances, etc, further promoting this doctrinal filth known as the Gospel of Inclusion. His being forced out of this church might actually allow him to raise his national profile. Lord knows this man would love nothing better than to become a sort of “Billy Graham” in a sense, a high-profile evangelist spreading this Gospel of Inclusion all over the land.

It’s so sad to see this man fall into the clutches of the Devil the way he has. May the Lord have mercy on him, open his eyes, and allow him to repent.

  9. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this whole New Thought business the direct result of the first sin committed by Adam and Eve? Once they had eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they began to judge what was right and what was wrong for themselves instead of trusting what God said was right and wrong as being true. Actually Eve decided BEFORE she ate by CHOOSING to eat and Adam decided by showing up with her, not stopping her and then eating himself. Now today people from every walk of life are deciding what they feel is God’s true plan for mankind when it’s right there in black and white between the front and back cover of their own bible. It’s a very dangerous business to interpret scripture if you’re not yielded to God’s Spirit. I mourn for these men and women who believe that they are shining a light because, like Judas, it may be better for them to have not been born at all if this is the route they are going to take. I would hate to train myself to believe that I am right only to find myself in Hell after death. To piggy back an earlier point, why keep calling yourself a Christian? If you oppose everything about Christianity and the bible, what does it do for you to use that association except to open a door for you to turn others away?

  10. This kind of church make it seem that there are only 3 people in hell, satan stalin and hitler. Their christ provided multiple paths and repentance is not nessesary caused everyone is going to be saved. But people fall for this and give their money to these thieves.

  11. Pearson is something else. I found an old article back from 1996 when Carlton Pearson denounced Louis Farrakhan as demonic and attempting to lead Black people astray. Now since Pearson has adopted his gospel of inclusion, he has become allies with Farrakhan. In past couple of years he had Farrakhan speak at his Interfaith/Inclusionist Conferences, among other events like prayer breakfasts he has associated himself with Farrakhan.
Interesting in 15 years how people change so drastically.

New Thought and Inclusion both come from the “pits of hell”, and produce poisonous fruit to the people that follow that mess.

  12. I can honestly say that Pearson is a perfect example of 1 Tim.4:1-2…some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. I wonder if he has gone so far now that it will be impossible for him to be renewed again unto repentance. This is really frightening.

  13. Carlton Pearon’s decent into heresy is deeper than I think most people realize. He was on Al Sharpton’s radio show last week and said that Jesus was a mystic-meta physical healer. He denies the divinity of Christ. He claims that Christ learned his abilities in his studies in Egypt during the “missing years” not mentioned in scripture. He also claimed on Sharpton’s show that the scriptures are not authoritative. “I take them seriously just not literally.” His denial of Christ’s divinity is a sharp departure from his inculsionist theory. How then is anyone saved under this so called “theology”? If Christ is not of the Godhead how does his sacrifice save anyone? He is a full blown heretic. Why he insists on maintaining the title of bishop is a sure sign that he is a antiChrist agent put forward to decieve many. He claimed that most of the stories of Christ are mythical and that the imagery of Christ with thorns and the cross are borrowed from ancient deities (gods) centuries before Christ. Instead of acknowledging that catholicism borrowed from pagan culture to make Christianity more palatable to the masses he discounts the reality of Christ. Sharpton gives his crap a national platform, shame on him.
