Former lesbian: "Im proud to follow Jesus"

Abigail Meadows’ life as an unrepentant lesbian followed a familiar path we’ve heard many times before. Sin delivers a very predictable wage. On the surface she was doing big things. But in a backslidden state her life was full of shame and loneliness. From her Zion Travails website:

“Prior to the day the Holy Spirit came in and purged my life, I was confused, unwilling to change my lifestyle, lonely and depressed. I was in graduate school pursing a career in the cosmetic industry as a cosmetic scientist. I was also a model and a make-up artist for movie productions on Broadway and off-Broadway productions in New York City. Although it appeared as though I was ok, secretly I was ashamed of my choices and always cried out to God for deliverance.

I had given my life to the Lord at an early age, however, I was living a backslidden life. Several Super Natural events took place whereby, God separated my sinful desire and gave me His Desire deep within my heart. God sent a messenger from Brazil to tell me that God wanted me back with Him. It was after this occasion that several ministers of the Gospel shared revelatory words of knowledge with demonstration and power of the word of God with me within a 3-month time frame. Finally, Holy Ghost, himself came and purged me by removing the spirit of Sexual Perversion with signs, miracles and wonders. This was one of the most pivotal days of my life. I re-committed my life back to the Lord and received “eternal salvation” and “everlasting life” with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

I am so glad that God took the time and was very personal with me. The lifestyle I live now is not embarrassing nor does it bring me shame. I am proud to follow Jesus and His Way. My life has never been the same and neither will yours.

Prophetess Meadows leads a prayer and intercession ministry in Albany, GA and GCM Watch is so grateful she’s shared her testimony (and STRONG, SOUND TEACHING) via video. Watch and listen and if you are bound in homosexuality, heed her wisdom and be free.

  1. I hate to burst your bubble, but I sincerely doubt this woman’s story. First, she claims she had a “spirit of Sexual Perversion.” That is about as unbiblical of claim as it gets. Her whole story is full of false teachings and unbiblical nonsense of “deliverance ministry” fakery. And now she claims to be a prophetess. I guess I expected a wee bit more discernment from your ministry.

  2. Glenn I doubt you could “burst any bubbles” here. First because I dont have any. Secondly, bubbles are for children. We’re all grown folks here. Lets dispense with the trivialities and deal with your comments.

    1. Youre entitled to doubt. The pharisees also doubted the blind man’s story when Jesus healed him. Read about it in John 9. Just so you know doubt is a work of the devil so your comments are confusing. You doubt men and women can be delivered from homosexuality? You doubt that she was a lesbian? You doubt God’s power over evil spirits? What???

    2. Where is your biblical proof that sexual perversion is not a spirit?

    3. You say the “whole story is full of false teachings” but its interesting you didnt cite one nor did you prove where it was false biblically. Basically all we have to work with right now from you is conjecture, unfounded accusations and failure to biblically show where she is wrong (assuming she is).

    4. The bible says to rejoice with them that do rejoice (Romans 12:15). She once was lost but now she’s found. You dont get that? And you have the juvenile nerve to trip over how she tells HER STORY?? Since I dont know you, I’m restraining my rebuke until you come with something of substance.

  3. I have really been absorbed lately in what Gabriel says concerning God……..
Gabriel’s validity to John the Baptist’s parents.
    Luke 1:19
The angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.

He later sums it up very simply to Mary explaining that she will have a miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit because……

    Luke 1:37
“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

I really enjoy how she says that she accepted the Lord at a young age and fell away. Her testimony quickly dispels the “eternal security, once saved always saved” false doctrine that has infected the body of Christ today.

  4. No, I don’t doubt that she was formerly homosexual, but the Bible never has demons of this and demons of that. That is part of the whole deliverance ministry aberration. There isn’t space here to debate this, but I suggest some good studies from solid scholarship, such as “Modern Myths About Satan and Spiritual Warfare,” by David Kirkwood; “The Bondage Makers,” by Ignacio Rovirosa; “Miracles, Demons & Spiritual Warfare: An Urgent Call For Discernment,” by Edward N. Gross; “Power Encounters: Reclaiming Spiritual Warfare,” by David Powlison.

The fact that she is a believer and has been led out of homosexuality is something to rejoice about, but the fact that she has also been led astray by false teachings to where she thinks it was a demon and now she is a prophetess, is something to be sad about.

  5. Glenn if you are going to object on biblical grounds, then you need to cite scripture not books by opinionated people in order to substantiate your claims. Last time I checked it was God’s word, not the latest books by people thats the authority of judging such issues.

She didnt say anything about “deliverance ministry”, she clearly gave GOD the glory and credit for her freedom. And you have a problem with that?

You still keep referring to “false teachings” but still nothing for us to examine to prove whether your accusations are justified. If you have nothing, then just move along and let us rejoice without your doubtful intrusions.

    Last chance.

  6. Whom the Son sets free is FREE INDEED! Praise God that’s He’s still a MIGHTY DELIVERER! Good “sound on the ground” teaching as well.
Thanks for sharing this testimony GCMW! May the Lord use her and her testimony by the Power of the Holy Ghost for other’s caught up in this lifestyle to overcome and know that there is a way out! The devil will never have the final say so over one of God’s elect!
I rejoice with this Sister in Christ!

    Revelation 12:10-12 (GOD’S WORD Translation)

10Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,

“Now the salvation, power, kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah have come.
The one accusing our brothers and sisters,
the one accusing them day and night in the presence of our God,
    has been thrown out.
11They won the victory over him because of the blood of the lamb
and the word of their testimony.
They didn’t love their life so much that they refused to give it up.
12Be glad for this reason, heavens and those who live in them.
How horrible it is for the earth and the sea
because the Devil has come down to them with fierce anger,
knowing that he has little time left.”

  7. Hi,

I’m visiting through the link Neil listed; I’ve visited and been edified by your site before, but this is my first comment. I decided to comment because reading the testimony above, I have to confess I had the same mis-givings Glenn did. Please give me the chance to explain what I mean by that.

First of all, I believe completely that she was a lesbian, and God transformed her (praise Him!) by the renewing of her mind. The reason I find that easy to believe is because she repented. A bit of background: I used to be enslaved to alcohol, and bulimia, for many years. God also granted me the gift of repentance. Around the same time, I got involved in the charismatic movement (I’ve been out of a good 5 years now), and therein lies the difference in our viewpoints.

Now, please don’t bash me and I’m truly not starting a debate, but I (and Glenn) believe that 1 Cor. (esp. chaps. 10-14) support the cessation of the miraculous sign gifts, as do subsequent epistles, the Early Church Fathers, and the historical record. The office of prophet, like that of the apostle, was given to the Early Church for a time and a season, but since we now have the complete Word of God the Canon is closed. It’s not a debate I’d want to open here and I’m sure you’re more than familiar with both sides of the argument, but that’s where the concern comes from.

Moreover, the whole “signs and wonders” movement of today is not of God, IMO (think Benny Hinn; IHOP; Todd Bentley; Winnie Banov; Peter Popoff; etc. etc. etc.) The true “signs and wonders” were given to vindicate the apostles (2 Cor. 12:12); a period that has now ended; while axioatically 2 Thessalonians warns us about “the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders”.

Now, here’s where I admit I am confused…and couldn’t figure out how to put this, even before reading the comments….the fruit in this woman’s life appears to be good. She’s turned from the lie of homosexuality and is a professed follower of Christ. However, as Glenn pointed out, there is no biblical support whatsoever for a “spirit of homosexuality” anymore than there is, say, for a “spirit of bulimia”. There’s just sin – period. And God calls us to repent of it. When Jesus cast out demons from people, it was an act of mercy (healing); they were NOT individual “demons of ____” (fill in sin of choice). Those people He called to repentance.

I should add…this whole “deliverance ministry” phenomenon is something I examined closely and studied when beginning my training as a biblical counselor. I, also, believe the theology behind it is aberrant — although I am not necessarily questioning the motive or sincerity of the people involved in it. I actually have known some fine (if deceived) Christians who believe in, and practice this.

But setting herself up as a “prophetess” is, IMO, the really objectionable part. Again, the question comes down to whether or not you believe in special revelation/predictive prophecy since the Canon of Scripture is closed. She used the words “word of knowledge” and special words of prophecy, I can’t explain her experience…but based on MY experience and, more importantly, the Scripture, I think a healthy dose of skepticism over these types of scenarios (where folks set themselves up in “prophetic ministry”) is a good thing.

Please take this in the spirit it is intended, and not as a personal attack.

  8. Powerful Testimony! I’m a living witness that God will take the desire from you if you surrender to Him. Takes time but He will get you there.

  9. Marie, thanks for your rather anemic offering of praise I guess.

I dont understand why people cant rejoice that she is free from lesbianism. That’s her testimony. Let me put this in context for you and Glenn. GCM Watch has written hundreds of articles about the doctrines of devils unleashed in the church by gay christians. Not a peep from you or Glenn on that. But here this woman is freed from her bondage BY GOD and on your FIRST comment to this site, you trip over her calling herself a prophetess and gifts etc. That’s just bizarre.

I still dont get what your problem is with deliverance.
I was delivered from homosexuality just like Prophetess Meadows. And God, not man did it.
What’s the problem? If people are not delivered, what should happen to them? Or is it that you just want to call it something else.
All the chatter about early church fathers, cessation of gifts, charismatic movement, Peter Popoff, Benny Hinn et al have nothing to do with this woman (or any of us) who have been delivered from homosexuality by the power of God. Best I can figure out you dislike that she said, “spirit of homosexuality” and not “sin”. How trite is that?

Do you have these “misgivings” about everyone or just people who are delivered?

It disgusts me to even have to entertain comments like this from so called Christians. If you are not going to give God the praise for her freedom, then keep your IMOs to yourself.

Any further comments demeaning God’s work in this woman’s life will be promptly deleted.

  10. I have not visited this site before, so I don’t know what all has been said in the past.

Neither I nor Marie have denigrated or denied God’s work in this woman’s life. What we are trying to get across is that there is false theology being used.

“Deliverance” from sin is not the same as what the “deliverance” ministries teach. There is no such thing as a demon of this or a demon of that – if there was, don’t you think we’d be told in Scripture.

The woman did not have a demon of homosexuality – she was a sinner caught up in a particular sin which Christ helped her overcome.

And the idea of being a prophetess now is against Biblical teachings.

Proper doctrine is what we are discussing; we are not diminishing the fact of her deliverance from sin.

  11. If you don’t believe in the modern day Power of God, and operation of the Gifts, then you are not Saved. You can’t fight a spiritual enemy without spiritual power. If you don’t believe in the Gifts, why even pray? Your asking God to supernaturally move on your behalf when you do.

I could go further but that it not the topic….. This woman had a spirit(s) of sexual perversion and God delivered her from it, Amen.

  12. The very Bible you claim to read Glenn says to avoid people like you.

2 Timothy 3:5holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

Without the Holy Spirit no man or woman no matter how much knowledge they think they have or how much they can quote the Bible cannot live a Holy, Dedicated, Set Apart life for the Lord Jesus Christ. You must have the Holy Spirit empowering you to because greater is He who is in you than is in the world.

If you Glenn do not change and allow God to soften your hardened heart the Bible was talking about you here too.

    Revelation 21:8)

8″But for the cowardly and unbelieving…………. their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

  13. Robert,
So now, because I point out false doctrine, I am the subject of 2 Tim. 3:5?!?!?! I have a hardened heart because I point out false doctrine and beliefs?!?

That is some ad hominem attack you have there. But where is your biblical proof that I am wrong?

  14. Glenn there is no issue of “false doctrine”. That’s a strawman you raised and why are you complaining about attacks when that’s exactly what you did to the Prophetess Meadows?

Read this carefully: Do not post here again. You are looking more and more like a rock throwing pharisee with every word and Ive entertained more than enough of your unsubstantiated foolishness long enough.

  15. @ Robert, man you were bringing the “heat.” Point well taken, you do need the Power of God in this modern time. The gifts of the Spirit and Five Fold(some say 4 fold ministry) has not ceased since the 12 apostles.

Glenn, this woman of God has an outstanding testimony of how the Lord delivered her.

Gcwm, I think Glenn would fit better as a Sadducee versus a Pharisee, considering the Sadducees denied the supernatural and the working of demonic spirits.

  16. You know Shofarsound I don’t get it, the devil is up to his same old tricks and the Bible even says he is still the ruler of the world until Christ dethrones him. So if God equipped the Saints in the Church of Acts in those days why wouldn’t He do it today?

    Satan is still around!

He is still perverting God’s order with every sort of sin, so why can’t this woman get delivered and these 2 “Christians” rejoice?

These 2 not being filled with the Spirit of God (obvious) show up to the Praise Party to argue about doctrine, ridiculous!

What kind of hope does this give the porn addict, or fornicator ect begging for a way out because they know they are not right with God?

Is there no need for Apostles to plant churches or Prophets to prophesy or Pastors to tend the flock?

  17. I find it interesting that although Glenn states he is not decrying the work of God, yet so much controversy arose around what I see as a simple and astute observation. The salvation of others is not to be determined by us for God judges us by the righteousness of Christ and not by our own faults. Although by their fruits you will know them. But I am not here to join a praise chorus or to side with Glenn. I simply see far to much in the way of intolerance toward others beliefs and a lack of ability or willingness to see the good in them.

I do however praise God for all souls redeemed and hope to see many more come.

Now if you are going to tell me to go and bring scripture I would prescribe the entire book of Galatians as I do not hold to the art of decontextualizing Gods word to benefit my own opinions. Salvation is by grace and that is the gift of God. And to any who have trouble rejoicing with this woman read Phillipians – its all joy joy joy! But to say that anything Glenn said is childish is extreme, but his conversation does belong more in the circles of theologians than here at this site.

Thanks for your time, I’ll be checking in.

  18. Smith, I can agree with you. This particular post was not the place to discuss what Glenn brought up. Its completely disrespectful and has no bearing on the issue at hand: this woman’s declaration of freedom from homosexuality.

He has a blog. Let him debate it till the cows come home there.

  19. Gmcwatch, glad to hear it! And also may I say that your handling of the situation shows the same love for God and man that all of your blogs so far have. This site is a great witness to just how much God’s love can change the world. Lord bless and keep you in your work!

  20. Well Praise the Lord for this sisters deliverance and subsequent service unto The LORD. He has done great things!!!!

Why does reformed teaching try to hijack Gods word as if they alone know it!

As far as the bible saying there are demons of this and that.

    Acts 16:16
Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.

    Matthew 9:31-33
31But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
32As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.
33And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

    Matthew 17:
14 And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic[c] and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.

Say what you want but here we have demons affecting 3 people in 3 different ways.

  21. Wow, Glenn…

    What about:

Luke 13:11-17 – spirit of infirmity

    2 Chronicles 18:21 – lying spirit

Revelation 16: 13-14 – three unclean spirits like frogs

We can’t take scripture selectively like a buffet. We have to eat the whole roll. And while we’re talking about consuming food, “If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father , will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Now, bread, fish, eggs…sounds pretty tasty. Stones, snakes, scorpions…sounds hurtful, poisonous, and dangerous. Here Jesus equates the giving of the Holy Ghost as manifested in the Book of Acts with a Good Gift. And the promise was not only unto those Peter was preaching to, but to their children, those who were afar off, and as many as the Lord would call. Acts 2: (38) & 39. Good Gift even for us today.

And I can’t resist adding this gem from the Lord Jesus:

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

  22. Paul is that reformed teaching? That the gifts of the Spirit are died with the Apostles? If this is reformed teaching it needs reforming.

Amen thank God for freedom! The people who find insignificant things about the video to criticize must not have ever been enslaved to sin before.

  23. Yes Pastor, thats all reformed/calvinistic teaching.

I find it replaces the power of God with intellect.

This is one of the main verses, they somehow twist to fit that the Power gifts ceased when the cannon was complete.

    I corinthians 13:
8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

However this scripture does not say that the gift of teaching will remain a this point, it only says that faith, hope and love remain.

  24. And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
    Mark 9:17 (KJV)

Well, I guess there is a spirit of this or that. There are others but I figure one example is enough to correct in this instance.
