  1. Eros all the way! This isn’t the gospel of Jesus Christ, it is what Paul called another gospel, the gospel of sensuality.

  2. This type of foolishness is made possible when the word of God is not followed. Woman are not supposed to be in the position of authority in the church nor are they allowed to usurp authority over men. The bible is quite clear on the matter:

“Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.” 1 Timothy 2:11-12

    Paul then explains why:

“For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.” 1 Timothy 2:13-15

Feminism is responsible for how weak men and the church has become towards this position. You can read more about that here:

    http://touchyaneighbor.com/2011/05/09/feminism-satans-lie-to-women/

Obviously “Pastor” Kim Burrel has been deceived…..

    Good Job Bishop Blake! (sarcasm)

  3. She need only to get out of her mirror and into her Book (the Bible) and follow what’s written therein, she is too sensual and obviously blind to what God calls for!

  4. Personally, I dont think she’s sensual or sexy. I think this attempt to frame the music in such a way is reprehensible.

brdavision, I dont think this has anything to do with specifically with usurping authority over men as much as it has to do with the falling away culture in the church in this end time. Permissiveness will open the door for anything to be acceptable. She’s not married and not under a man. If she wasnt a pastor, this foolishness would still be reprehensible. And the sexy siren gospel singers and their sexy gospel songs are increasing. I dont think any of them are really in a church trying to lead men or have authority over them.

  5. Is this the new version of a Christian “red shoe diaries” in the making? I agree with the idea that a more sensual, sexual form of gospel is beginning to shape in what I’m seeing these days. I get facebook images added to my site where these half naked female “angels” or sexually seductive women praying to God, or with baby angels are the popular images for many. All that’s missing is the rabbit logo. Crazy.

  6. True what she has done has nothing to do with her error of being a pastor. But because she is a pastor (in cogic) she has a much larger stage to display her (very unsexy) foolishness.

The falling away culture needs to include a woman’s acceptance into the pastorate.

No she is not married but she is indeed still under a man HER FATHER. And she does usurp authority over those weak-minded men who attend the church.

The bible doesn’t say that only wives should be submissive and quiet in the church, but “women” to be submissive and quiet (that includes single females too).

She happens to be a false pastor so I had to let her have it…..

Permissiveness does open the door for anything to be acceptable but the bible should close that door when it clearly teaches something else.

  7. You know, I am fully expecting there to be a day when these folks start dropping dead in the pulpit or on stage. What a demonically inspired mess this is!

Strange fire? Yes, indeed it is. What happens when offering strange fire unto God? Go ask Nadab and Abihu.

  8. If you want to clearly see this video for what it really is, try watching it with the sound turned off. Classic Satanic deception; spiritual lyrics coupled with sensual imagery.

There’s an old saying that Satan is a Gentleman. If he presented to us as hideous we would immediatley flee. Therefore he presents as genteel, cultured, smooth and hip. Don’t you want to be “with it”? Aren’t you into the latest, greatest “Gopsel” music?

“But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” – Matthew 16:23

  9. Kirk Franklin, no surprise, promotes this video and album by stating that Kim Burrell is tearing down the wall between the church and the romantic. What?!?! In what world is it okay for a so-called saved woman of God, a Pastor, to appear in a carnal video in lingerie? Whether one finds her sexy or not is irrelevant, what she`s doing is promoting the world`s agenda and not the gospel of Jesus Christ. Shameful!

  10. Even I can’t believe how ridiculous this is. This isn’t spirituality, its extreme carnality. Wow.

  11. I dont understand why people like this dont just go ahead and drop off the deep end and leave the gospel alone. Why the need to pretend to be spreading the gospel when you in reality are doing nothing but seducing people into lies. Just leave it alone if you dont want to do it God’s way.

Like Don said watching it without the sound there is no way a person would know its a so-called gospel song. Laying a bed with in your lace and sheers singing about Jesus?

    What Jesus?

  12. @gcmwatch……..I think this will be the next step. There is really no where elese to go!!!

    EX: Tonex………….

I don’t know if the older genertion – meaning 40 and above can completely abandon the sense of right and wrong that has been taught to them completely, but the younger generation 40 and below, especially 30 and below have been hearing a water down gospel and push the envelope type preaching since there youth………….for these I think they will abandon all their teaching for the “pleasures of sin for a season”.

  13. This is what happen when we indulge in forbidden love, for all these sexy gospel singers, all claim to love the Lord. But its the kind of love that forbids them to call His name in their songs, and glorify him in their mode of dress etc. Forbidden love. They have so many names to choose from, Jesus, Yahweh, El Shaddai, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Shammah, Jehovah Jireh……but this forbidden love is secret, so they all agree to call him “You” when they’re in the public eye and ears. In this particular song we have Kim telling “You” that he’s good on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday… and that’s worship. Okay. Can I challenge Kim and all the gospel music ministers singing songs to “You” to walk into their next recording contract meeting and address the Record Label CEO as “you” and see what happens.

  14. I am very confused. The words to the song are very loving and does speak to a wonderful relationship with Jesus; that is sweeter everyday that goes by. But her actions, facial expressions and movements and clothing and her entire demeanor in the video seemed to suggest she was singing not about her relationship with Jesus but her longing to be carassed and touched by a man. Its totally wrong to mix Gospel with R&B. There is nothing wrong with married couple dancing in their home to the sweet sounds of “My Endless Love” or Luther Vandross “Here and Now”…I encourage married couples to be romantic and celebrate their love for one anothers. But to mix Gospel with R&B is wrong..its just plain wrong.

She should explain her intent or motives behind this video. What are you ministering in this video Kim? Its totally unclear as to what she is trying to say to the body of Christ with this video. What happen to the good ol’ days when Gospel Video’s actually ministered…or was she trying to minister in a more sensual way? Can you minister the Gospel of Jesus in a sensual manner?….I am going to have to study up on this. I am use to sexuality but sensuality is new to me and perhaps even new to the church; but definitely something about this video is wrong…its just wrong.

  15. Many insightful comments which lift me up! Thank you all for your uplifting thoughts!

Please permit me to attempt to pull a few things together here.

There is an all out attack, across the board, in every possible nook and cranny, against Christianity right now. The anti-Christ people are leaving no stone unturned. However, Satan, as always, is the great deceiver and has puffed himself up, like a big balloon, to make himself appear bigger and more powerful than he really is. Essentially, he is a bluffer and a phony.

The situation reminds me of the “Wizard of Oz” where the great “wizard” was found to be just a little old man behind a curtain pulling levers and throwing switches; smoke and mirrors.

Satan has the media, Satan has the big megaphone but everywhere the faithful are quietly calling his bluff and his facade is beginning to crack. What appear to be solid fortress walls are nothing more than a stage prop as thin as a sheet of paper. There is no substance.

Let’s look at homosexual “marriage”. Proposition 8 could not be kept off the ballot in California. It could not be defeated at the polls and to this day, despite the best efforts of former Judge Walker and the “Dream Team”, there is no homosexual “marriage” in California.

The legislature of Maine legislated homosexual “marriage” into existence and a vote of the people kept that legislation from going into effect, preserving real marriage instead.

In Maryland and Rhode Island, proposed homosexual “marriage” legislation was pulled because there were not the votes to pass it.

The Minnesota legislature just passed a measure to put on the ballot a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.

As regards younger people, younger people become older people with time. How many of us are the same person we were when we were 18 or 20 years old? What we fail to learn from Scripture, life itself teaches us the hard way. Many of us had to hit the depths of despair before turning to Jesus Christ. When we look for a way out of darkness, we find that there is only one Light.

We need to continue to fight the good, spiritual fight in the name of the Lord but we should be of good cheer knowing Who is behind us.

“But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” – Matthew 19:26

  16. Amen. Lord have mercy and may He give us grace to stand against this evil and teach our children to recognize and flee from this debauchery. smh too

  17. Just a footnote: Krishnar Lewis, this video`s director, is a very out and proud of it homosexual. 2 Cor. 6:13-15

Now in return for the same, I speak as to children, you also be open. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?

GCMW: I looked for evidence of that, but didnt see any. Can you cite something which supports your claim?

  18. People of God: If this woman professes to be a pastor, she is woefully lacking in Biblical instruction and discernment as to her actions in this
    video.
She could have achieved the same “purpose”(?) of singing about the
faithfulness of God and his goodness without the “Madonna In The
Morning Sheets” approach. Not needed. Nor is her dancing on a yatch
or expressing images that she is in the near throes of sexual
    gratification.
I rank this video as an F which also stands for foolhardy.
Those who can reach this woman by e mail or twitter, need to chastize her for this pandering.

  19. Villiam, I am part of the “under 40 crowd”–albeit by a few years, but thank God w/in the last several years I came across Godly knowledge and information by way of this site and others. As background, I came out of the institutional church system in 2008 due to the heavy-handedness of false doctrine and hero worship at the expense of the adherents and Christ.

Before I learned of the information surrounding the links involving wolves in the pulpit and the minstrels, I would polish my voice singing with and to the popular “gospel” music of this time. Tonex was among the top artists whose tracks I would practice to on a regular basis in prep for P&W at “church” for that period. Since coming out of my ignorance, I barely listen to the music anymore.

With that, I totally agree that this video, and others similiar to this, are grossly out of line for all of the reasons stated.

  20. God bless you for that testimony NCatina. I pray that the many others who read this site will see the valuable service we are providing to the body to free the captives from the grip of the wolves and their music ministers who lull the sheep to their spiritual deaths.

  21. I FEEL THAT EACH GOSPEL SONG SHOULD BE A HIT OR DISCARDED, GOSPEL MUSIC INDUSTRY IS GOOD, BUT NOT A FINANCIAL GIANT, SO I FEEL EACH SONG AND VIDEO SHOULD BE A HOMERUN, AFTER VIEWING THIS , BOTH SONG AND VIDEO IS A STRIKEOUT…..
KIM BURRELL, THIS VIDEO AND SONG SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCARDED AND TRASHED, TELL YOUR PRODUCER YOU WANT A HIT NOT A STRIKEOUT. GOD BLESS YOU.

  22. Just ran across this troubling vid.

In this vid Mary Mary is singing over a secular song.

The worst part is that in the interview at the end one of them says that when her clothes are REALLY “sexy” her daughter tells her that she looks like a “fast” girl.

It seems like these gospel “entertainers” are the ones bringing sexy back.

    sick!

  23. The Gospel should not be prostituted or perverted. God does not sexual His word.
The devil uses sex to sell sin to those who will buy it. The focus should be on
Jesus Christ and not on some scantily clad harlot/jezebel. Satan is a pervert and
it’s his job to pervert the precious word of God. The Apostacy will happen because
the Born-again Believer will be lured away from the word of God to follow the sensual
things of satan. Our job as True Believers is to keep on the whole armor of God
and keep our eyes and minds “set on things above and not on things of this earth.”

“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have past away. Behold,
all things have become new,” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

  24. We have to ask ourselves the question:

Do I have Truth, Jesus Christ or an opinion, satan when I comes to the word
    of God?

Do I seek God’s guidance to record Gospel music or do I seek my own self?

Have I been called to record Gospel music?

Will I give God the glory for my singing talent?

It’s all about Jesus Christ. We are just vessels to be used by Him for
    the Glory of God. Simple.

  25. Well said, Steve P.!

You have described the very essence of a Godly life.

“Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” – Luke 22:42

How many times have each of us put aside what we had in our mind to do to instead follow the guidance of the Lord? That process of choosing, of surrender, every day, in things large and small is the primary determinant of where we end up. It’s where the rubber meets the road spiritually.

The days of our lives in this world speed by and it is the pennies which we have daily deposited in our spiritual cookie jar which determine what is in our account when God calls us home.

  26. GCMW, I apologize for the vagueness of my post. I do have a source who is the CEO and EIC of a gospel industry magazine based in Los Angeles; perhaps I should have stated “bisexual”, and I apologize for that error. If in doubt, I have no issue with you removing my post. Thank you for calling me on this one, I do know better.

  27. Clearly, there must be a change in the way the church is supposed to be perceived. If this is all we are offering to the world, then the world established it’s non repentant position, and the church has accepted it. Why? Because we are non repentant. The Lord Jesus told Paul that “I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to the power of God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” Acts 26:17-18. With this kind of singing in the church, we are no different than a Saturday night club on Fulton Street in Brooklyn, NY. Eyes wide shut is the church today.

    What is this indicative of?

We are so busy doing everything else that we are no longer busy about our Father’s business. The Father’s business is no longer the true business of the church. Record labels, songs of the world, sexual immorality, persona, and enlightenment is the epitome of an apostate spirit inside most local churches and false pastors (Ezekiel 34).

  28. I tried to watch this and 27 seconds is enough to let you all know that, brothers, you need not get caught up in this. If you have ever been where I was, you will understand that videos like this is a “one thing leads to another” video. Graphic as to what I am about to share sounds, there’s too many Christian brothers that will go to the next step after seeing this video because of trigger mechanisms that incite urges and impulses. Males are wired for sex and this video is the switch to turn on the male sex drive. The music, WAY OVER THE TOP! The bedroom scene and the attire is unbecoming a child of God. These are the kinds of things that become forged into the minds of undisciplined males. Having said this, the early church leaders had a very difficult time with Song of Solomon, however, it was deemed essential for Scripture. There is no comparison with this video to the Song of Solomon. NONE! It is “reprehensible” as Pastor Foster said.

  29. You have said some wise things, Pastor Rochester. Please don’t forget about those who remain true and faithful to Scripture and to the Lord. They are now, and have always been, the real “church”.

  30. I wonder will Sister Judith McCallister continue to make excuses for her this time around.

GCMW: Now, thats a interesting thought. Im sure they (COGIC officials) have seen it.

  31. Brdavidsion

I think you have it backwards. It is because men have been weak and passive just like their father Adam and THAT is why feminism is becoming more prominent. Men won’t step up and take responsibility like Jesus has done for our sins. When Eve ate the apple it was Adam who God was looking for.

    Genesis 3:8-9
And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool[c] of the day, and the man and his wife(H) hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”

That kind of thinking leads to blame-shifting. Where are the men in his congregation? She does not need to be on a pulpit. Where are the discerner?

  32. couple of things:
first, you guys may want to ‘bookmark’ this video or capture it on screen via some other method as it seems to be “disappearing” from a lot of sites (i think as more people are discussing the controversial nature of it—it may eventually completely ‘vanish’) so if you want proof of this licentiousness, better capture it elsewhere lol…
secondly, i just watched it and am wondering if the shot of her standing over the balcony in her nightgown looking down on the “sweating” gardener is SUPPOSED to convey some type of image of her being ‘tempted’ (since she’s singing the lyric about “lord i know you’ll help me make it through)….so PERHAPS that was the purpose in that particular video image–to try and convey some sense of temptation yet depending on the Lord???? who knows……lol (not at all attempting to justify this foolishness, just a thought that occurred as i was watching and listening to what she was singing)..Either way the whole video is garbage….

  33. LOL!

Her face sure doesnt look as if she was resisting temptation with whe help of The LORD, running her fingers through her hair and all that.

You have me craking up right now.

  34. I’m a fan of Kim Burrell but this a little over the top. I think she is parading the weight loss and feeling beautiful in her new skin. The message in the song was lost with all this sex appeal.

  35. @wannabereal: Did you capture this vid? I am asking because I use freerecorder a great program and I could capture it, but I could only stand to watch about 10 sec. literally. I guess I could hit play and walk away LOL!

  36. I was able to get it. By the way that looked like a first grader shot that thing!

  37. “Deeply carnal. Spiritually trashy. Evil enticing. (zero stars)”.

And to think that music was once the praise of the COGIC, and sill is praised by many in the contemporary world today. Not me.

This type of shame only goes to prove that music is more than just the lyrics. So we can now cut out that lie.

Notice all her changes of ouftits. Even this small detail, shows this COGIC leader mimicking the evil entertainers on BET.

The swaying on the million dollar yacht (an expression of lust and greed), the facial expressions , the sleeveless dresses, the showing of her full figured bosom. LACK OF MODESTY ALL THE WAY AROUND!!!

The playing of the hair. COME ON MUSIC LEADER!!!

Yeah, she’ll draw the sinners with this video, I’m sure. Perhaps maybe to a type of eroticism, or some finger popping to thar jazzy beat, but definitely not unto their knees for real repentance.

This woman is trying to get some (pardon the pun) to violate James 1:14. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”

  38. Ahhh!!!!! REALLY!!! No she did not! Oh wait, Yes she did. See this is why I don’t listen to MOST black gospel artists because they are into such foolishness now, and she think she sexy, and trying to be sensual. Kim, Kim, Kim how low you have sunk. So she lost a little weight and has gotten beside herself… So sad that she is this insecure and felt that she had to do this. I’m a size 6 and I wouldn’t even want to try to represent God this way. This is such bad representation the video has nothing to do with the song. Astarte, Diana, Venus, etc. etc. etc..

  39. Sometimes I say I’m appalled when I’m really not…sort of like how “lol” doesn’t necessarily mean “laugh out loud” anymore.

I can honestly say I’m appalled by this though. *Shudder*

As mentioned above, this came across to me as someone trying to show off how she looks. Not understanding why she may have chosen to do so in a song that’s supposed to be dedicated to God.

There is no real way to excuse this, and I’m extra disappointed that Kirk Franklin is telling people he’s a-ok with this. Notice I didn’t say I’m disappointed in him per se–he lives on the fine line of do’s and don’t’s so I’m not surprised. He’s notorious for parading inspirational music as Gospel or praise and worship music. I also call inspirational music “Me, me, me, I, I, I…and oh, God too” music when I hear it from self-proclaimed Gospel or praise and worship artists.

This is why I try to stick with praise and worship music now. This is not to say the artists are better as far as lifestyles go, but it’s pretty hard to try and sing, “You’re grace in my life lasts forever” (Fred Hammond, “Lord Your Grace”) or “You came to my rescue, and I wanna be where You are” (Hillsong, “Came to My Rescue”) when the wrong shift in your person could reveal the assets God has physically beset you with.

I am a 24 year old, black female, btw. It hurts to see that sensuality/sexuality is being thrown around these days, especially since I’m saving myself for marriage and also try my hardest to be modest. As the M&M commercial says, we do exist! 🙂

  40. @PaulN – Out of the mouth of babes. How she gonna teach her child/or allow her child to be taught by others a difference that she didn’t even see when she put the outfit on? Mercy…

CelibrateJ asked the $20 mil question. I’ve noticed the last couple of years it looks like they’ve been unable to fill that youth choir space like in years past. Either Judy’s attendance rules separated the wheat from the chaff or those loyal to the Clark sisters, extra registration fees or just the cost to attend conventions is too much the last few years. Then the kids might already be hold up in a hotel room already mixing the romantic and the spiritual, or they want spotlight outside the choir with their own singing groups/soloists in the musicals. Though rounding up the kids for the youth choir has always been challenging, I can recall being herded from a workshop directly into service already in progress as a teen, and up to the choir stand, like ‘who said I was singing? this ain’t even the alto section…’ Maybe a few saints are holding their youth back from singing under her until they can get some clarity from our leaders… holding breath …
Makes me wonder is this song going make an appearance in a musical or as a sermonic solo somewhere with a few more ‘Lords’ and ‘Jesus’ thrown in for good measure.

  41. Why doesn’t she just produce an R&B project? It is evident that she is believing what people say about her voice and this is a test run to see if any R&B producers will offer her a project. People should be true to who they are, and if she wants to do R&B music, let her. My problem with Ms. Burrell is that she seemingly wants the best of both
worlds in that she won’t give up her position as a “female pastor” ???, and her position as head of the music department of her denomination. A position that infleunces all COGIC musicians. The very fact that COGIC allows her to function in the position as a pastor lets me know that she has carte blanche to do whatever she wants, as long as it brings notoriety to the denomination. Mahalia Jackson we miss you.

  42. Some interesting information is unfolding. I think it was just before AIM 2010, there was a lot of controversy surrounding her singing with secular singers, one was Prince. So, a letter was posted on COGIC.org by Judith defending her actions. Also, I don’t know if anyone else saw it, but the way she was dressed in St Louis at the convocation (on the platform mind you) was down right disgraceful. And now this. One other thing, is her church COGIC? If so, is COGIC officially ordaining women pastors? just curious.

  43. Nope her church is not COGIC; I live in Houston and her church is in north Houston, the greenspoint area. But I do wonder about COGIC’s endorsement of women pastors; I think Blake has women as elders at his church; and from what I understand, Supt. Frank White, who is COGIC’s national secretary, officiated her pastoral installment service.

I think this is defintely going to cause some ripples in the COGIC denomination–I mean for the conventions that they have; when they introduce her to sing at their national meetings; are they going to acknowledge her new position by saying ‘Here’s a sermonic solo by Pastor Kim Burrell’….

  44. Rogers, the whole Women pastor issue in COGIC is a running joke. Many bishops are allowing and accepting women pastors. If you allow a woman pastor, evolution will be put in process and eventually there will be women bishops. If Frank White (a national official) officiated her “pastoral installment” that should say enough right there. But woman pastor or not, that video is an abomination.

  45. You’re right Pastor Foster, The video is an abomination unto God and unto me….lol

She ought to be ashamed of herself. I mean would an honest Christian adorn themselves like that and not feel at least a small nudge of the Holy Spirit telling you to cover up per (1 Timothy 2:9)?

    Is her conscience seared?

  46. @brdavision: That is a good question. How do you reconcile this as being an imitator of God and not the world (Eph 5:1)? Is what she is displaying openly the fruit of the Spirit? Can we truly judge her actions and words and also test the spirit to discern what spirit this is of? Sure we can, and we can rightly see this is NOT of God! At least not the God of the Bible.

She is actually being used a pathway or better yet a gate of hell to entice more and more people away from Jesus Christ.

Who does this look like? I’ll tell you what I see in this video is the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
I see the “Strange Woman” of Proverbs 7.

Pro 7:10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.
Pro 7:11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
Pro 7:12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
Pro 7:13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
Pro 7:14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
Pro 7:15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
Pro 7:16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
Pro 7:17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Pro 7:18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
Pro 7:19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
Pro 7:20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
Pro 7:21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
    Pro 7:22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
Pro 7:23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
Pro 7:24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Pro 7:25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
Pro 7:26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
Pro 7:27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

  47. This is a travesty among others Elder. Thanks for covering it. I’ve finished my call from the inside. Lord help us.

Does any saved person really care to see their pastor in their draws or in a “sexy” capacity and mood? Sorry but that sounds strange to me.

    Somethign is wrong for real!

  48. gcmwatch,

I agree…on the books, COGIC objects to women pastors but in practice, they do something else…It only makes me wonder about what other issues COGIC could have prohibitions against in writing, but in actuality, they endorse…time will only tell

    i grew up with kim burrell; it’s kinda sad she had made this turn;

I guess that’s what happen when you start recording love songs with george clinton and r-kelly…a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump…

  49. A woman cannot be a bishop or a deacon because they are required to be the husband of one wife. When it comes to pastor, evangelist, etc I see no qualification as to male or female. Paul told the women to be silent because that church was so out of order and it was meant for that church because of all the chaos that was in it. Some churches are like that today and men are pastors in them and women have nothing to do with the chaos going on in them.. In these last days, God is not looking at a gender, but at a whosoever is willing to do His will..

  50. Time for this one to sit herself down because she is ALL out of order, along with some others who are openly walking in total disobedience

  51. Sorry nan but you are incorrect. Paul wrote those words to instruct Timothy:

“so that you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15

Paul’s word are not to some isolated incident that was happen there in the Church at Ephesus. Where is your proof?

His words are instruction for all who assemble together inside the church of the living God. Notice how he gives the same directions to the church in Crete as well:

“This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you—if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.” Titus 1:5-9

By the way the greek word used for overseer is the same word for elder, bishop, pastor, and any other church leader title. You can look it up

    be blessed….

  52. I agree with you mercdes but I did say “weak men” were responsible. It is their fault that they never put woman in her place. I don’t mean that comment to be sexist but its the truth.

But the lie that started it all (women in ministry that is) was Feminism…plain and simple

  53. Wow. I was just thinkin’ about how “sexy” gospel ballads are now. Some of them sound like something you would hear on The Quite Storm or some similar music program. And what was up w/ her in that nightgown singing a “gospel” song? It’s so sad to see what’s happening right b4 our eyes.

From a photographer’s perspective, technically the video was of poor quality—like a Tyler Perry movie. I don’t know if that was a first year film student, but visually it was extremely unappealing.

  54. why was this video produced? Clearly This is about someone living out some kind of fantasy and trying to remain safe at the same time. Why would a Christian not see this for what it is? Even an unsaved person could see through this

  55. I write for SoulMusic.com. As the name indicates, we are not a gospel music website. Nevertheless, I interviewed Kim recently about her new album, THE LOVE ALBUM and the video for the single “Sweeter”.
We talked for about 40 minutes and she explained in detail her intent, not only for this album, but for everything she does.
She addressed the criticisms mentioned here and in her own way, revealed some of her own towards part of the gospel community.
There is a methodology, or a movement if you will, behind the whole thing, as she exlained as well.
The interview will post on our site on June 7th and I encourage everyone to read it, but to do so with an open mind.
Even if you don’t agree with anything she has to say, be careful when judging others so harshly. Some of the comments here come off as mean-spirited.
    Be Blessed!
    D.

  56. Her interviews are loaded with excuses and attempts to gloss over and justify what she is doing.

this vid is out of order and that cannot be explained away.

  57. Gcmwatch said: “I don’t understand why people like this don’t just go ahead and drop off the deep end and leave the gospel alone.”

Well, for starters they probably won’t do that because they would rather “compromise” and bridge the gap between the church and secular. For the most part, all of the “major players” in the gospel music industry are produced by Verity Gospel. Verity is owned by multi-billion dollar Sony Music Corp. Over time, Sony has acquired the following (Arista, BNA Records, Columbia, Epic Records, Jive Records, Legacy Recordings, RCA Records, Roc Nation and of course Verity Gospel).

The question is: “Where is the GOSPEL in gospel music these days?” To me it seems that the stuff Kim is pushing along with the rest is nothing more than INSPIRATIONAL R&B.

  58. Lafe @ Darnell-Meyers Johnson:

Nice try…but no cigar. You can not even remotely attempt to justify
this video on any gospel grounds. There is nothing Kim can say in light of scriptures that will condone or allow this nonsense to be seen as
glorifying God or was graced by the Holy Spirit.
If that is how Kim thinks, she needs to be counseled in what it means to be a godly woman. If the Apostle Paul or James or Peter were to view this video, they would severely rebuke her for such trash trying to parade as if it were godly or that she is given out some “deep” message.
There is nothing Kim can state in her defense. She needs to pull away
for a season and go into seclusion with bread and water and the Word of God and get her head on straight.
She is being blinded by Satan’s bling and she does not even know it!
    That is called being deceived.

  59. I concur wholeheartedly with that Lafe. And to Darnell-Meyers Johnson, just a question for context. Are you homosexual?

  60. TO – Darnell Meyers-Johnson

I listened to the entire interview. Let me explain the position of “us” church folks who disagree with Kim, and are often judged as being “judgmental”. We church folks believe in the Bible as the only word of God, and this Bible states in James 4:4 “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God”. We take this verse very, very seriously.

Satan is the prince of this world and he offers many riches and fame to follow Him. Kim stating she is happy that the world embraces her and love her and appreciate her, is totally against the calling that God gives to all his children. Her idea is directly opposed to the Bible when The LORD HIMSELF states in John 15:18 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you.” We are not friends with this world. Opposition to the world is what we should expect.

You appeared to have more discernment than Kim when you posed the question “Do you feel that you have responded to that call (secular) in a way”, after which she began to talk about sounding sexy. For Kim to talk in terms of being sexy, I challenge her as the minister she claims to be, to prove this through Scriptures. Our songs are not “sexy sounding” songs. Our songs are hymns, psalms and spiritual songs.

I admonished you Mr. Johnson not to be fooled by this woman. I urge you to Study the Bible for yourself, and know that Christ died so that you may live.

We are not called to bridge the gap, we are called to preach the gospel, the good news in that though you are a sinner doomed for eternity without HIM, Christ died for us that we will spend eternity with Him.

  61. Rob, thank you for that. Well said and seasoned with grace bro. I had no intention of listening to her interview to hear more insanity about this ridiculous video.

  62. Pastor Foster,

I couldn’t agree with you more.

    This video is totally ridiculous.

  63. When looking at biblical passages about women, realize that the same Greek word “gyne” means both “women” and “wives”.

When Paul says that women should remain silent in church and learn from their husbands at home (1 Cor. 14:34-35), I believe he is speaking with regards to the prophecies their husbands speak in church (1 Cor. 14:29-33). It would not apply to unmarried women in any case.

He does not mean that WOMEN should never speak in church, but that WIVES should not question or challenge their husbands in church. In fact, he assumes that women/wives will both pray and prophesy in church (1 Cor. 11:5).

It is the exclusion of women which leads to a single-sex, homosexual model of leadership, as demonstrated by the rampant homosexuality of Catholic priests.

  64. When Paul says that women should remain silent in church and learn from their husbands at home (1 Cor. 14:34-35), I believe he is speaking with regards to the prophecies their husbands speak in church (1 Cor. 14:29-33). He does not mean that “women” should never speak in church, but that “wives” should not question or challenge their husbands in church (the same Greek word means both “women” and “wives”). In fact, he assumes that women/wives will both pray and prophesy in church (1 Cor. 11:5).

His point seems to be that when a prophet speaks in church, the other prophets are to judge what that prophet says (1 Cor. 14:29). In Corinth there were apparently lots of prophets (1 Cor. 14:26). In the case of married couples in which both partners were prophets, the wife was not to judge her husband’s prophecy. This was not because women were supposed to be silent in church – they were not supposed to be silent. Rather, a wife was to refrain from questioning her husband in order to show honor to him by not challenging him publicly (1 Cor. 11:2-16 is also about wives honoring their husbands in public worship). If she did have questions regarding her husband’s prophecies, she was to ask him in the privacy of their own home.

  65. We are not talking about 1 Corinthians Tenerife. We are speaking about the passages found in 1 Timothy 2:12-15 where Paul clearly defines church etiquette. Anytime you try to extrapolate a meaning from a text of scripture first know this. No part of the bible ever contradicts itself.

Its called The Synthesis Principle, and it is part of the 7 Generally Accepted Principles that are used for interpreting the bible. Paul clearly lets us know how people are to behave in the house of God. You also said “I believe” when you started to give your “opinion” on what the bible says concerning women in ministry.

Not to be rude but I DO NOT care what you believe concerning scripture. My job as a minister is to exposit (explain) the meaning of what God originally said. I sorry I’m not going to read the rest of your comment or the other one you posted. However, If you can prove that the requirements of a church leader found in 1 Timothy 3 include women (and I know you cannot without twisting the words or adding your own opinions) then I’ll listen further.

    God Bless!

  66. I’m laughing sadly, at all of us! “music ministers” & ” minstrels” and all of this other stuff! We kill today’s gospel music while not realizing that the root is just as corrupt! Our black ” worship style has more in common with Vudu, Vudun, and voodoo than first century Christianity! Black Gospel comes from Blues and Juke…it has always been a wreck! I no longer look to music to minister to me…I just open the Bible! Music is in the entertainment category for me. For me, I’d rather skip the ” praise and worship and choir singing” break open the word and discuss it corporately, take up an offering, and go home. Our whole concept of” church” is perverted!

  67. Historical reference right on point.

But what do you as a Christian to admonish Paul’s teaching not only once, but twice when he states

“. but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. . . . (Ephesians 5:18-19)”

    and

admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16)?
