Jamal Bryant having "conversation" with homosexual pastor

Jamal Bryant is hosting a Tuesday night featuring “Conversations” with Dennis Meredith of Atlanta. Its interesting that this flier gives no indication of what the “conversation” is going to be about. If you didn’t know that Dennis Meredith is a backslidden inclusionist who divorced his wife and became a homosexual, you would think this was about what type of suit and tie to wear for Sunday morning service.

Curiously, Bryant also has Brenda Burton there.  Burton shared her testimony of overcoming lesbianism on last year’s Lexi Show. Will she really have a voice  or is she a prop?

The graphic has been updated with a title: “Homosexuality in the house of God”. See updated copy here. Thanks for letting us know.

  1. While we should wait for the contents of this “Conversation”, the one thing that we must expect is that when you are dealing with sexual immorality, the game of soft ball is going to be played. Hard ball is when the real questions about sexual sins and the standard of holiness are intentionally thrown to get at the truth of the matter. In baseball, when you want to avoid a good hitter, it’s called an “intentional pass”. And that’s why the world will never take the church seriously because we “children of the Most High God avoid the tough issues and questions. We want to look holy and have a “form of godliness while denying its power, but we roll in our dirt and call it “Ajax or Clorox Clean”. For preachers, no matter which way you look at it, it still called “ring around the collar.”

  2. I had a look around the Internet and found that Meredith himself is not gay: his son, Micah, is. In fact this New York Times piece suggests that he became ‘gay affirming’ when Micah came out to him. Seems like Pastor Meredith is a grieving parent in denial, and I really feel for him. He can’t seem to face the fact that his beloved son will face God’s wrath if he doesn’t turn back from his lifestyle. I think that’s a very common reaction among parents when they find out that their kids are gay.

  3. Haydn, yes that was his initial story. But on new Years night 2009 he came out of the closet at his church.

  4. I am interested in seeing the trascript of this meeting. I did view that youtube clip of Pastor Meredith last year when the Bishop Eddie Long scandal broke. Prior to that, I had never heard of him before. I was shocked when he claimed his sexuality. Mabe I’m different but I could not continue in ministry while I continued in that style of living. I was just reading in the book of Romans chapter 1 when Paul was talking to the Christians in Rome (because during this time Rome was a very political platform around A.D 57 and his message could reach more people), he spoke about the perversion of the men giving up natural relations with women and burned with lust for each other. He also called sexual impurity degrading to the body (NIV). I hope there is some serious dialouge concerning this topic because it is greatly needed. We can no longer degrade our bodies but present it HOLY before the Lord.

  5. This is just sick. Christianity is a joke. I thank God He hasn’t called His true people to be “christian” but be holy. There is no room for compromise in holiness. It seems like every day, week there is something more perverse happening than the week before. These so called pastors, elders, bishops etc today need to be sat down some where. You might have 1 true bible teaching & living preachers today out of 100. It’s so clear why the straight & narrow path few will be there at.
(Isaiah 9:16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.)
The same thing that happen in the days of old are happening today. Most preachers aren’t saying anything truly acccording to the bible. Therefore the people aren’t living anything. Just about anything goes in christianity today & it makes me sick. My prayer is people drop religion & grab relationship with the Most Holy God. Flee these false apostate churches. Find a pastor(male) who has not bowed down at the foot of baal but only at the foot of the cross of Christ. A true shepherd will only point you to the truth of the word.

  6. I pray that every former gay, now born-again Christian shows up at the convention in Atlanta and declare the restoring power of Jesus Christ that has benn made evident in their new life in Christ Jesus. The Bible says that those with itchy ears will heap up for themselves false teachers in these last days. The word of God, The Bible is the anchor for the spiritual soul of the born-again Christian. We must never allow any one, be it father, mother, sister, brother, cousin, aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, etc. persuade us to exchange God’s word for satan’s lies. It’s imperative that we stay vigilant in our churches and speak out against any and all perverse teachings that will try to infiltrate the house of God.

  7. Amen again! I don’t want a religion that won’t require me to live holy according to the Word of God, but instead, twists Scripture so you can stay comfortable in your sin. I have a major problem with that.

  8. Friends,

We were first called christians in Antioch, and it actually was a term used to ridicule us, because of our identification w/Christ. I would say lets not demonize the term we were called because some of us don’t live it out desiring to be holy. For what separates christianity from every other faith based religion is because its not about religion its about violitional relationship to a living God and to each other. A life based off of love, faith and holiness.

  9. Tony I understand what you are saying but God didnt call us to be Christians, he called us to be holy. 1 Thess 4:7, Heb 12:14 Thats why we can have homosexual christians today. People simply co-opt the term because it has no biblical grounding other than what we were ridiculed as.

  10. Pastor,

I appreciate you understanding what I was trying to say, though it might have been feeble (smile). I was simply trying to remind some friends of ours not to demonize a term applied to us as the body of Christ because of the ignorance of those whether knowingly or unknowingly foolishly claiming to be. And yes this particular posting is not about what we are called and called to be. Its about the continued foolishness of pastors’ like Jamal Bryant claiming to speak for the entirety of the body of Christ.

  11. As a reminder, the term Christian is found in two places, and Christians in one place. A term never used by our Lord as Pastor DL pointed out. We are called, the church (assembly). We are called salt and light. We are called a “habitation of God through the Spirit.” We are called to be holy, as He is holy. That’s why when we are called to be holy, you will never hear sexually immoral people use the word “holy” except from a compromised, carnal, hypocritical posture. You cannot be clean and dirty at the same time. If you are not connected to the True Vine (John 15:1-10), any one that isn’t bearing fruit (Galatians 5:22 and Matthew 12:33-37 will get cut off by the Vine-dresser and sent to be burned.

  12. @gcm: I think Tony is referring to the post by Neil: “I thank God He hasn’t called His true people to be “christian” but be holy.” This is the statement he is responding to.

    GCMW: oh okay. Thats “demonizing”?

  13. Pastor,

As I stated my comment might be interpreted as feeble (smile), and the word I used perhaps out of place, but I hope understood nonetheless. No harm was intended to Bro. Neil nor anyone else.

  14. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE ANYTHING WITH A HOMOSEXUAL PASTOR. BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUCH THING. HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN AND ANY CHURCH THAT THINKS ANY OTHER WAY IS NOT OF GOD. THERE WILL BE NO HOMOSEXUALS ENTERING THE PEARLY GATES OF HEAVEN. THEY WILL BE CAST INTO THE FIREY PITS OF HELL FOR ETERNALTY. ANY CHURCH THAT PROMOTES OR ORDAIN ANY HOMOSEXUAL IS NO BETTER THAN THE HOMOSEXUAL. BETTER OPEN YOUR EYES. HELL IS HOT. ONCE THERE,YOU ARE THERE WITH NO RETURN. IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE THIS, BY ALL MEANS, ASK GOD ON JUDGEMENT DAY.
