Alabama deliverance service for teens angers gays

HAMILTON, AL – Before its all over we may need a national “religious exemption” clause for churches to pray with, minister to and preach against homosexuality. With SOTUS’s ministry of “justice” demanding that the Defense of Marriage Act be struck down (so much for “states’ rights”), things are not going to get better.  As we see it, there is no way biblical truth about homosexuality and the  oppressive social inclusion ideology to peacefully coexist. The inevitable is happening before our eyes. One homosexual activist is accusing Alabama based pentecostal evangelist Damon Thompson of a litany of offenses after an impromptu deliverance service for young people struggling with homosexuality and lesbianism.

Ashton Pittman, a homosexual teen who said he was looking to get out of his boring religious life in a small town Alabama Baptist church, says he was attracted to Thompson’s ministry because the evangelist “wore jeans, had tattoos and preached against religion.” But in one service, he didn’t like it that Thompson called teens struggling with homosexuality to come forward and receive deliverance. So Pittman started a crusade and in the short run is getting the attention his small town Baptist church didn’t give him.

Pittman posted a video of the service and predictablity its raised the ire of gay rights activists.

The service took place at a church called “The Ramp”, founded by frequent TBN guest Karen Wheaton. Thompson has responded to the emerging controversy with a statement on his website.

I first and foremost preach with a strong sense of responsibility to present Biblical truth. As part of that Biblical responsibility, I can in no way condone homosexuality. I understand, along with every genuine preacher and teacher of the Bible, that it is my vocation to call sin sin and to compel men and women to the path of eternal life Jesus and the Apostles prescribed. That path is forsaking sin and placing faith in Jesus Christ.

The video clips most viewed are very short and depict strong statements about homosexuality. I wish to clarify my purpose behind making them. The brevity of the video clips do not allow a viewer the opportunity to hear the entirety of my message and heart.

Any statements I make concerning homosexuality are in the hopes of turning the homosexual to the path of eternal life. I talk about homosexuality as I would adultery, alcoholism, pornography, drug addiction, etc. As with all sin, I recognize its destructive nature and out of love call people away from it.

Was Thompson wrong? Should he apologize for “offending” gay sensibilities? Should he now only talk about homosexuality in secret and prohibit any filming? Should he just tell young people that there is no hope for change; that they are doomed to be something that God never created them to be?

We hope not. Its no secret that many young people in churches are struggling with homosexual bondage just like they are struggling with bondages of all type. Somebody must be bold enough, anointed enough, biblical enough to speak the truth in love.  We can’t separate the church from the Lord and the Lord from his message. The mission and message of the true church has always been the same mission and message as the One who established the church.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; Isaiah 61:1-3 ESV (our bold)

That’s what its about people of God. Everyone deserves to hear the message of freedom. The slaveowners of America’s past didnt want black people to hear the message of freedom either. Now, it seems like satan has just found another host to suppress the message of freedom. And if we allow a blind and lost world force us to stop preaching this message of freedom, we will have truly lost our identity and purpose.

The First Church of God on Sodom Street Pt 2

In part one of this article, I talked about how far too many Christians have shifted their positions on morality and perhaps have moved it to the bottom of their contemporary concerns. But what could have contributed to that?

Recently, I heard a pastor state that it was his intention to be “culturally relevant” in these last days so that the church can become the center for evangelism, community driven and to be intriguing for sinners to come to church and get saved. Sounds good, but it’s wrong.

Since the past few years I’ve heard many Pastors, youth leaders, Christian entertainers and Christian laypeople state this same rhetoric, that in order to win the world, we must become relevant enough to get their attention so that we can give them Jesus. But are we?

I do not doubt for one moment the sincerity of these people, I honestly believe that they believe they are doing what they think is best to win the lost, to garner more attendance, to satisfy the great commission for their cause. But the problem persists that as more and more churches declare this agenda, they are merging on the edge of losing their identity simply to appease the world.

Because of this style of evangelism which is found in many churches, it’s leading many into an open area of compromise and sin. This is why the number of fallen Pastors has risen sharply in the last few years. Because of this new concept to become current with the world, we have allowed the world’s ideas and beliefs within the church itself. Hence, why so many believers are now struggling with sexual sin and immorality like never before. We are getting sick from the disease we once had an immunity to.

The argument for this philosophical nugget is that if we can become more appealing to those in the world who are already engaging in behavior that is both sinful and ultimately harmful, then we can draw them away from that style of entertainment or lifestyle with something identical yet spiritually enriching. I call it the “New Coke” syndrome.

Back in the early 90’s Coca-Cola decided to create a new Coke, something better, something people would want that would replace the old Coke. What they discovered was that although ideal, it was a marketing nightmare. People tasted the “new stuff” and realized that the old was a lot better than the new. Soon, people demanded the original, they wanted to good stuff! They couldn’t stomach the new formula for taste and I’m sure stock holders couldn’t stomach the drop in revenue.

Reinvention or Revival?

What was the problem? They tried to re-invent a tried and true formula for success and it didn’t work. It’s the same with the church today. I see more and more preachers today trying new ideas, new concepts, new messages, new songs; it looks good, it sounds good, but when you taste it then you are left with something that is not genuine, it’s an imitation of the original. The church today is trying it’s hardest to replace a tried and true formula, something that has worked for over a thousand years and that is the basic message of the cross.

In a day when the church is trying to look as much as possible like the world, where we dress like the world, talk like the world, are entertained by the world, how can we even begin to fulfill the great commission? The very idea of being holy, separate, and pure, is counter to the real goal of “reaching the world”. Yet, we are doing it trying to be relevant at the cost of our very identity of a holy ghost filled church. It simply won’t work!

This is why our young people are giving in to the lie of alternative lifestyles, bi-sexuality and homosexuality, because we changed the purpose of the great commission and we didn’t stay true to the core message of the cross.

God has one method to win the world – just one. It’s the gospel through the preaching of the word. That’s it! Uno tournaments, Christian rock concerts, seminars, community activism, none of it can never or will ever become the tried and true formula that God has placed into position to win the world, it’s still the preaching of the word and nothing more.

The problem is, when we start going to bed with the world to win the world, you wake up with contamination, a spiritual STD. This is why the church today has virtually no power it once had, all because it tried to be like the world in almost every way, yet God said over and over to be less like the world and more like him. Until we realize this, the less of an impact we will have on society and the world. And God knows we need to be an impact on the world today!

When the message is about loving ourselves, there’s something wrong. When leadership begins to fall morally, there’s something wrong. When a Pastor can write a book and state that Hell no longer exists, there’s something wrong.

We must begin to shake ourselves as Samson did and realize that the enemy is all around us, we’ve slept in the lap of Delilah for too long and it’s time to wake up and loose the bindings on us. The world is in chaos, the world is hurting, it’s looking for something that is true, tested, sure and not been re-invented. It’s looking for the gospel.

We must return to a faithful prayer life. Give ourselves over to fasting at times as well as getting back into the word of God. A faithful dedication to reading our Bibles, studying the scriptures daily, is the only true means of success the church can assure a positive and healthy life.

We must be willing to denounce our sins, our pride and arrogance which has brought us false teachings and corrupt ideas. When we remove the leaven in our lives, we’ll begin to see God’s healing within us.

I believe in the coming years God is going to wake his church and then the greatest revival of evangelism will occur, but we need to start preparing and part of that is going back to what is true and good, the old paths, the old ways.

I’ve tried the new Coke and you can have it, give me that old stuff, the good stuff. It might sound cliche’ but that old time religion was good enough for my parents, it’s good enough for me.

Transforming San Francisco

transan

My friend Pastor Danny Jefferson and other pastors and leaders in the greater San Francisco area are mounting a phenomenal task to lift up a “canopy of prayer” and righteousness over one of America’s most saturated principalities.

I just found out about this a couple of days ago and most likely I wont make it, but for the first time in my life my heart will be in San Francisco with those who are pressing against the gates of darkness and against the perverse principality that has ruled that city for far too long. I’ve never been there and frankly never wanted to go but this would be a reason to go.

Convening the week of July 14-18, its called The Transformation Experience and according to organizers is a “5 day hands-on, how-to transformation immersion.” Participants will “learn, be equipped and get to practice in a dynamic context in the San Francisco Bay Area.”

If you are in the area, please find out how you or your church can participate. You can watch a very inspiring video testimony from area pastors here.

Its time to transform San Francisco.

Witness goes into the world via Romanian translator

romania1A  Romanian translator and interpreter is partnering with Witness Ministries aka Witness for the World to translate Pastor Foster’s testimony and select ministry teachings from English to Daco-Romanian. Romanian is a Romance language spoken by about 24 million people in Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.

Although currently the only one of its type in exsistence in the entire region, the website  Contra Curentului  (Against the Stream) is poised to be a major clearinghouse of overcoming information for Romaninan people.

The tranlator told Pastor Foster her main reason for doing the translations is a labor of love for the souls of homosexual men and women. “I am interested in this type of ministry because I love my gay friends and I want to help them”, she said.

About Romania and homosexuality
The need for biblical teaching on homosexuality is great in this former communist country in the south-east of Europe. It has 22 million inhabitants. 87 % of them are orthodox and most do not attend church. 5.70 % of the population is protestant or evangelical. There are no ministries or support groups for people affected by homosexuality, and there are very few Christian evangelical counselors in the whole country. of the counselors, none have speciality same sex issues. To date, there have been published only two Christian books and one booklet about homosexuality.

“We are astonished at how the hand of God moves to break though the darkness in the world to bring his light of freedom. God will anoint one person and accomplish much. The translator is a living example of the scripture in Daniel 11:32b which says “and the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits”, said Pastor Foster, ministry founder.

The vision of Witness Ministries is to lead men and women out of homosexuality and into holiness as a worldwide witness to the radical saving power of Jesus Christ. Visit the website of Witness Ministries
